This channel is probably the most useful in the universe. You can learn so well with the animations and the explanations well done and step by step. No books could offer that technically advanced details.

You can use ANY ODD NUMBER of coils in the armature. If an EVEN number of coils is used, there is a danger that the 2 brushes will be touching 4 commutators at the same time. Then the magnetic fields of the 2 symmetrical coils fed by the 4 commutators will cancell each other out, and the motor can't "make up its mind" which direction to turn. It can be "frozen" in one position and the coils will fry.

XSportSeeker Yah, this was shot in my Nexus 5x. The next time we need an experimental shoot, I will make proper arrangements.
@XSpImmaLion
@XSpImmaLion 7 жыл бұрын
The image quality isn't bad, I think you could still use the Nexus, but perhaps with a wired lavalier lapel mic? At least a lavalier mic would eliminate the need for a properly padded room a bit, which is not an easy thing to deal with. :P Regardless, great work and great material!

@3:22 if rings 1 and 3 possess the same voltage, coil C is shorted, this doesn't mean there is no current flowing through coil C but the current that was flowing through coil C will degrade (probably but not necessarily to 0)

I think it would be good to put some force vectors for the poles to better illustrate when and where the poles switch as the motor rotates. And I mean for the whole rotation cycle, not just part of it.

Hi, I know this is old, but I have a question. What if I swap the position of the permanent magnet (reversing N & S poles) and everything else are the same, frm the animation I can understand that the rotation will reverse (anti-clockwise). But what if I reverse the polarity of the +ve and -ve terminal, will the rotation goes back to the clockwise direction?

The right hand rule diagram is used incorrectly. When using the right hand rule for current and magnetic field the thumb is the direction if the current and the fingers represent the curved direction of the magnetic field.

there is something that i dont understand: due to the constant flow of electricity there is a force constantly being applied on the rotor (and therefore a net torque) so this means that the rotor should have an angular aceleration at all times (net torque = moment of inertia * angular aceleration). Despite that, the rotor is rotating at constant angular velocity. Why does this happen?
@nickmikhaylyants762
@nickmikhaylyants762 Жыл бұрын
Generally the faster a motor spins the less “force” there is on the rotor, it is kind of unique that induction motors if not all electric motors have this ability to “govern” its own speed.
