DC Multiverse | Gorilla Grodd | Unboxing & Review | Injustice 2 | DC Comics | McFarlane Toys

Taking a look at the new Gorilla Grodd from McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Line. This design is based on the Tournament Shader skin, but McFarlane has taken some liberties and added their own details to the character. It's a big hunk of plastic but sorely missing some attention in the paint department.

I almost feel baited & switched by McFarlane when you compare it to the promo shot on the back 0:46 and the golden armor WW 4:05. Besides it being a badass armored gorilla, the paint job was a big reason I pre-ordered.

Yeah this is definitely a disappointment from what I was expecting. Not sure how they can do an all gold Hellbat and not hit this with a coat of paint.

I had hopes that some of the armor could be removed. I would rather see more of the Ape and detail behind the armor.

I originally passed on this character when I saw him at Target. Not familiar with his background. I noticed a Walmart near me still has 8 of these just sitting in Electronics. I figured I’d watch a review to decide if I should just go ahead and get him. I’m still not very impressed. I do wish that his jaw was on a hinge so that I had the option to close it. Also, I know that McFarlane is stingy with accessories. I’d like to have seen him come with some sort of staff, or maybe a sword & shield.

That’s a Detolf cabinet from IKEA, and I’ve installed 2 sets of Dioder lights in it.

Overall cool looking figure - I’m a big champion of the DC stuff that Todd has been making - but this one is lacking. All of that amazing detail is sacrificed with little to no paint. If I end up getting this one a black wash will make that detail pop! Thanks for the review!

At the $20 price point its a great figure. He should have been a little bigger but he wasn't tremendous in the game so it works.

Nice review, but I don't see why you're disappointed though? At the 20 dollar price point Grod has a detailed sculpt and articulated joints where it's important 🤷 I've seen companies like Hasbro sell figs at the same price but with less sculpt and smaller size (like the shoulders could have been more limited but McFarlane gave enough space to do 360 and raise the arms up)

I was expecting his armor to be much more brighter, not a sorta marbled dull bronze color, also he has near grasping hands but no weapons, might as well just given him either fist or full splayed hands instead

The scaling kinda ruins this figure. I've noticed that the mcfarlane DC Multiverse line is hit, or miss. However, I like Grodd. So I'll be picking him up.
