Thank you for calling out the toy company for some of their practices. One of the biggest issues I have is the platinum chase variants of figures people want. Instead of rereleasing these variants as repaints down the line, and making double the money, they are artificially inflating the value of these figures by artificial scarcity. I am also rather upset with the over correcting of production runs. They are limiting the runs on a lot of their new releases, and they’re selling out almost immediately. C’mon McFarlane Toys, give us the opportunity to buy the toys we want! Great video, Josh! Thanks again!

I agree with pretty much everything you said. These scalpers with no life will always beat us to the punch on these skimpy releases. I’m somewhat lucky enough to have a job that I get certain weekdays off pretty much every week so Ive been able to hunt down most platinums but the gas it cost to go store to store bothering employees to go look in the back is exhausting. We should be able to pay MSRP for the stuff we want and not give in to resellers ! I’m not much of a completionist so I don’t hunt every single platinum that drops but just the ones I really want. I’ve gotten most ones I’ve wanted lately besides the blue azrael and Hong Kong bale bats with wired cape. I used to buy every meh mcfarlane figure just to support the lines growth but it’s grown into a scummy company in short order and I’m over it , right there with ya bro. We all gotta stand up and start being more critical overall. I’m completely retooling my channel at the moment so I haven’t posted in a while but I’m just so passionate about Batman and the DC license I wish mcfarlane would take better care of us. I’m on the verge of making mcfarlane rant content lol

I went and got the full box from Entertainment Earth because that’s supposed to be the way to get all the variants without having to search for them. I agree with everything you said Mcfarlane business model has become Hasbro’s model; tons of reuse figures locked behind BAF etc. Sadly this is the only way to get DC figures unless you go to the “high end” figures and they’re not going to put anything out as fast or as in depth character wise as Mcfarlane or Hasbro.

Just found the NFT Wave Aquaman and Green Lantern at my local Vintage Stock (it’s like a pawn shop for nerdy stuff) for 15 bucks each in box. Somebody had traded them in. I got home and opened them to find out the NFT cards for gone 😂 I found the one guy in Oklahoma that collects the digital collectibles 😂

Plastic Man is the only thing I wanted out of this whole wave and I don't think any of the other figures are worth getting for him. I do like the headsculpt on John Stewart is kind of tempting for a headswap with the original. I'm just gonna hold out hope that Plastic Man gets some kind of deluxe release with more hands and swapable parts. While I normally don't have an issue with the whole neck type heads, I do really wish the head was removable from both necks so you can use either head. Like the neck is still removable because the stretched out one needs it, but also make the heads themselves swapable. As for alternate arms and stuff, I want like a stretched out arm with a large hand pointing forward for the memes.

Yeah, dude. I absolutely love that Plastic Man and do think he's worth buying the wave for, but definitely think they could've done more with him. Really confusing why they threw John Stewart in this wave, when this is obviously supposed to be a 90's Morrison JLA wave. So weird and random. Some of the decisions Todd and the team are making are mind boggling. It's especially irritating that McFarlane is pulling more and more of this Platinum crap when he KNOWS so many fans are unhappy and frustrated with it and not able to find the versions of characters they want.

Cool character for sure and I had to pause to look at that Police Comics cover -- The Spirit is in there?! Comics history will never cease to amaze, delight, startle, and mystify me. I do personally think Plastic Man is a cool DC character like Marvel's Mr. Fantastic but more unique and goofy ish with stretchy powers, I think he could have been a single regular release but maybe McFarlane can do one sometime later, Overall, Great review on him Josh.

he's definitely a case of a BAF choice because he's popular & not a ton of figures of him. Mattel thought the same thing years ago when they made him a SDCC exclusive & therefor harder to get

Only needed three figures to make Plastic Man but I broke down and bought all 4. Crazy thing is eBay is selling the complete Plastic Man for $100+. For the same price, people can buy all 4 figures AND still have Plastic Man. It's INSANITY!!

I was finally able to place a pre-order for this whole wave via Amazon today. I do agree Plastic-Man should've been a separate release. The amount of repaints we been getting has been wild. Just today they announced a Frostbite Edition Joker. I mean it looks cool, but $30 is steep. There's a lot of strange choices being made in this period for this line, its got me worried

the blue superman is the page punchers superman body. Nothing new with him. They dont have to release a $40 plastic man. Look at Jada Dhalsim. It's $25, has more paint than this entire wave. Has a full normal body. Has extra hands, extra head, a stand and 2 long hand and 2 long feet, all of them bendy wired. All this for $25. McFarlane charges the same for the 30th reuse of the same shit bodies and jack shit in the package. It's going further and further down as the months pass. The worst articulation in the business for the 5th year straight with zero fucks given to any sort of improvement. And gone are the days of new sculpts all the time.
