I never thought about something like this! I was going to get an on demand propane water heater but after finding out that my propane fridge goes through a 100# cylinder in a month I don’t want to have to keep spending a fortune on propane! Great video!

What's wrong with it.... That's not normal
@9252LIFE4 жыл бұрын
Homesteading Northern Michigan I think it’s because the seal to the freezer is bad and the rest of the fridge starts to freeze everything also. Probably goin to hafta get a seal kit. Or shut the propane off every other day and possibly get two months out of it.

Buy the seal and check all the seals and connections

You might need to regulate how much goes in
@9252LIFE4 жыл бұрын
Homesteading Northern Michigan it has a built in regulator and I put one in the tank side as well to see if that’d help. The flame it throws is huge like a rose bud torch and you can tell it uses a lot of gas.

If you temporarily insulated the barrel, it would achieve a higher temperature faster, also maintaining the internal overall water temperture. ♨️👍

Thanks for the video. I will try to do something like your system. Here is no to cold in south Brazil. My intention is to have a water "no so cold" to use in meu electric heat shower. This can reduce the amount of energy to heat the water in bath. Energy is to expensive here in Brazil. I will try to do a video and share here.

I wonder what would happen if you hooked up the dc power to an regular electric water heater? Or, could you just switch out the AC heating elements withe DC?

Great Idea but where can you get a proper DC Heat Element with a DC Thermostat to control the temperature.. There are Some advertised but there are AC which will Arc when matched with DC current. Thanks.
@royblack89854 жыл бұрын
Get your self a 50 gallon electric water heater and strip the insulation off the out side and paint it flat black. Replace the high voltage elements with low voltage ones. Build an insulated box with a double insulated sliding glass door pain on one side and lean it back to catch the winter time sun. Build some insulated doors to cover the glass when the sun is not shining. Then you can hook your solar electric to it.

I have a 600w wind mill as well as a 200w solar panel, Any suggestions as to what size heating element I should use? I don't care if I make hot enough water to shower in I want to heat a 165 gallon well of water. as a thermal mass. The well is in the house and maintains 10 c all winter. My thinking is dump what ever power I get from the wind mill /solar straight into the heater to heat it. looking for suggestions on Heating element size that would work with such small and variable inputs. I am just across the lake in chiniada from you so same same temps year round. Thanks in advance if you have any suggestions as to what size____ W 12V heater I should try first. I don't care about storing the power I want to make heat in the well.

A couple hours later, BOOM! All that water boiled but had nowhere to go. The neighbors founds the remains of your water heater barrel. If that happens you should be thankful. You'll know that it's capable of supplying hot water at all times. I suppose that is excessive.
