If you turned into a Atheist you wouldn't believe in being a Satanist , Atheist don't believe in anything either, God or Satan anything that's not based in scientific facts and stone cold, reason and reality, please get your facts straight, before making a simplistic, foolish, statement.
@RandallChase12 жыл бұрын
@@zharapatterson cool, thanks for telling me what I personally believed. It’s honestly ridiculous that you are trying to troll me on this point. Especially since, and I say this with all genuine compassion here, you don’t know what you are talking about. The reality of the issue is that a Satanist, as in a member of the Church of Satan doesn’t believe in the actual creature of Satan. The teachings of Anton LaVey, the founder of the Church of Satan (which you clearly don’t understand) did not worship Satan as the Christian embodiment of evil or even as an existing being. Instead, LaVey taught that “His Infernal Majesty” was a symbol of humanistic values. So before you criticize me or anyone else for that matter I might recommend understanding what you are saying. One can absolutely be an atheist and a Satanist. Now I don’t recommend either quite frankly, but that is the reality. I’m happy to discuss this more with you if you want. But I didn’t want to leave this comment unanswered since it is a very common misconception.

Micah Cease you were born in 2001? Wow, I was born in 89 I believe. And I spent my childhood days in the 90s. Where television set was barely available in my country. My country is undeveloped. It is like the USA of how the government is except it is only the opposite. My country does not have kinda half the things the US has. But the US has got quite some advantages while I have and am living here for 18 years. Now I am a fully grown adult.

You may have been born again in 2001 and missed good Christian Music like this but at least you were born again and that’s what matters most. By the way I was born again in 2001 as well but had a friend down the street from high school that leant me the album called free at last by DC Talk and that’s how I got my first taste of Christian music and what a good group to listen to in DC Talk. It was my good friend from down the street trying to spread the message of Jesus Christ and so many years later it worked as it was in the mid 90’s when there Jesus Freak album.

I just love the *intensity* of that thought...want to get it straight before the sun goes down...The HS is talking to me, letting me know things need to be confessed so that God, the Holy Father, will give me forgiveness, which I don't deserve but through His mercy am granted (1 John 1:9). He is faithful.

It's like it was yesterday for me in 1995. I was 16 at the time when I first heard this song on the radio and instantly fell in love with it. It would become my favorite DC Talk song of all time. Still is. Words can't even describe what it was like to listen to and be able to appreciate their music during the mid nineties. A very special time in history for me. Wish beyond belief that I could go back. I'm very encouraged to hear the next generation share their love for them. Hope for a reunion always. I love worshiping God, but I just haven't connected with much of the somewhat generic "praise and worship" Christian music of the last 10 years. Nothing for me will match DC Talk, Original Newsboys (Shine) and Audio Adrenaline (Can't Take God Away) as well as Jars of Clay (Flood & Overjoyed). Can't forget one of the founders of CCM, Michael W. Smith (Place In This Word). He was the first Christian artist I got into during the mid-80's. Of course have to mention my childhood crush Amy Grant, haha. Listen to El Shaddai by her. Beautiful song. Timeless. Never stop sharing the great CCM music from the late 80's/90's with others. Pure talent. In Christ :)
@standardbrah8 жыл бұрын
+David Dickson I agree. I think I stumbled onto CCM right as it was exploring a rockier and more alternative aspect of music without adopting anything generic from mainstream culture. Jesus Freak, Take Me To Your Leader, and Bloom were some of the first albums that truly impacted me as an individual. Its still so good, and I just can't find anything quite like it today.

Hey Curtis, I like the way you describe the changing tide that Christian music was taking during this time of the early to mid nineties. I agree that for me as well, nothing that has come out since this era is quite like it. I remember vividly the impact it had on me too. I felt that the direction CCM was taking then was a great one for the time. 'Take me to your leader' is also my favorite Newsboys album. Thanks for your comment. Nice to talk with someone who connects with this music as much as I do. Cheers!

dc Talk were huge during this time, but they are still underrated for the impact they had on not just the music industry (crossover success), but also their ability to tell such solid applicable stories with their lyrics (regardless of religion). Musically, they were able to perfectly execute the music of the time, and had such great voices as well. From just a musical standpoint, they were spot on with the timing of the Jesus Freaks album. From the perspective of a myself as a non-denominational Christian about to be 40, the lyrics speak as true today as when i first heard them in 5th grade. Everyone has something they can improve upon, and everyone has a story that needa to be told. Great album. Love these guys.

Everyone says it's a bible in the box...but I always just thought it represented the dude's sins, and the _whole_ song is talking about confession. In the extended version, it's clear its a person's conversation with the Lord, asking for forgiveness. So I think the box represents leaving his troubles behind, confessing his faults, and moving on in Christ.

Do you know what's this? It's not sins, it's human treasure: life and all with it. The guy has cherished his life, then just threw it in to garbage: 7. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith… (Philippians 3:7-9)

Somehow Tears.... I've been listening this song since high-school. It's been 23years... thank Jesus for being in me. He never let me go. How amazing Grace is..

DC Talks only song to go anywhere in the secular world. I think it topped out at like 26th on the top 40. They deserved more songs in the mainstream.

Rick C and Savannah. They had a minor crossover hit in 1991 with "Jesus is still alright", but this was their only major secular success. Another great song was "Minds eye".

In order to have more mainstream songs like this, they would have had to have recorded some. They never again did a song with this kind of sound. I'm not talking about lyrics, really more the sound.

I thought the song " The Hardway" , should have been the equally as big cross over from DC Talk..

The box reminded me of like a Pandora box full of havoc. Our problems; our lives are pure confusion before we ultimately surrender our lives to Jesus Christ.

I think I've got it figured out. Those guys chasing, more than like represent those feelings of regret and sorrow and hatred. We as humans try to BOX everything up, hide it away, all the things we do here on earth. All the sin, and the guys represent the hatred to ourselves and the regret and sorrow we get when we commit sin. The box represents those sins being kept away for no one to see, I don't think we are supposed to know what is in there because those secrets lie within that guy and God, but we can agree that we all have our own boxes, we have our own secrets that we hide from people, and although we hide, we can't hide from the truth. Thanks for reading and give a thumbs up if you think this may be what it is, comment if you think it's different! Thanks and God Bless!

I think it was his confession, anyone who has lived in sin knows that until you release it, you are chased by even more. So he finally got away from the chase to release his heart and start a new... which is why it was between him and god ;)

Otto "Sugar Bear" Price I believe ^_^ And I agree, one of my fave bass lines of all time
@tamuccal17 жыл бұрын
Ces Ral I ABSOLUTELY agree! This is by far one of the best bass lines in any song! If you could learn the line note by note and be able to play it live you'd have one of the best covers of this song bar none. Most people just learn the simple chords to get the main theme of the song but the bass line is ESSENTIAL to getting this song right. I'd love to hear more songs with the bass by "Sugar Bear"

This bass line is so characteristic of Jackie Street - the way he delays, then introduces half beat notes. Then it is very precise on what notes are played and the exact timing. I wont be surprised if it is him, and almost always has an outro at the end. PS: His name is on the album credits.

Sorrow is a lonely feeling Unsettled is a painful place I've lived with both For far too long now Since we've parted ways I've been wrestling With my conscience And I found myself to blame If there's to be any resolution I've got to peel my pride away Just between you and me I've got something to say Wanna get it straight Before the sun goes down Just between you and me Confession needs to be made Recompense is my way to freedom now Just between you and me I've got something to say If confession is the road to healing Forgiveness is the promised land, oh I'm reaching out in my conviction I'm longing to make amends, yeah So I'm sorry for The words I've spoken For I've betrayed a friend We've got a love That's worth preserving And a bond I will defend Just between you and me I've got something to say Wanna get it straight Before the sun goes down Just between you and me Confession needs to be made Recompense is my way to freedom Just between you and me I've got something to say In my pursuit of God I thirst for holiness As I approach the Son I must consider this Offenses unresolved Will keep me from the throne Before I go to Him My wrong must be atoned If there's to be any resolution I've got to peel this pride away Ooh, whoa, whoa, whoa Just between you and me I've got something to say Wanna get it straight Before the sun goes down Just between you and me Confession needs to be made Recompense is my way to freedom It's my way to freedom It's my way to freedom It's my way to freedom I've got something to say So let me say it today It's my way to freedom It's my way to freedom I've got something to say Confession needs to be made It's my way to freedom It's my way to freedom I've got something to say Confession needs to be made It's my way to freedom It's my way to freedom I've got something to say
