Hi Sir, why is the sign convention here ( Minute 8:09- ClockWise positve) different than what you already explained in the Video where you explained the stiffness Matrix ( Video : Civil engineering - Stiffness method structural analysis - Concepts & Basics) thank you in advance
@DCBAonline6 жыл бұрын
Hossam ALDAFFAIE yes you are correct about that video in which i had shown double arrows and their corresponding moment direction and in that anticlockwise was taken as positive, i have also solved a problem using the concepts i had explained in that particulat video and that video is a bit of higher difficulty level than this current video lecture. This is a much simplified approach for stiffness matrix that is taught to students so they do not get confused, so for simplicity without going into details i have taken clockwise positive in this video lecture however you are free to choose your sign convention before you start solving the problem and stick to that sign convention throughout the problem.

What happens when you have a symetric structure, and only moments due to distributed loads, i seem not to find a by hand solution and yet the softwares say that there is
@DCBAonline5 жыл бұрын
Why cant you find a hand solution? Where are you getting stuck?
@bluebarash24885 жыл бұрын
@@DCBAonline If i use a symetric frame and grid structure where all the beams are the same length, then, the forces of action in the in between nods will sum cero, cause all the double fixing condition when writing the stiffness matrix. And so, since i work with these conditions i haven't been able to match the results from ftool, and i'm thinking maybe is because i'm missing something that has to do with the action forces and how to write down the force vector. I solve it in Excel (of course) but the final moments equations are never correct. I'm working in the simpliest case, with two beams and three columns loaded with distributed charge only and 1 lateral pushing force since there's only one slab.

Good day, what function on the calculator is used to determine the displacments theta B, C, and E? I used a Casio fx-991ES PLUS. Thank you very much.
@DCBAonline6 жыл бұрын
You can solve it by using simultaneous equations function in the calculator by going to Mode --> 5 (EQN) --> 2 and then input all the variable parameters.

@TanveshDabholkar6 жыл бұрын
Akash Gohel no, it is correct, you need to check the frame while standing inside.
@akashgohel53756 жыл бұрын
Tanvesh D no thats wrong because at first end fem should be 🔄 and second end fem 🔃 Element AB First end A : 🔄 so - Second end B : 🔃 so + Element BC First end B : 🔄 so - Second end C : 🔃 so + Element CD First end C : 🔄 so - Second end D : 🔃 so + And so on.... U can see that concept on moment distribution method lectures of this channel
@TanveshDabholkar6 жыл бұрын
No akash, im the one who makes these lectures,you are not thinking conceptually here, its not always that the first end has to be negative just because in all other case it is negative, the direction of a fixed end moment is determined on how the member is deflected. If it is causing a clockwise deflection due to the load at that end then the fixed end moment will be anticlockwise and hence negative, whereas in this case if you see at end A the load is causing an anticlockwise rotation and hence the FEM will be clockwise and therefore positive. I hope you understood the concept.

@@DCBAonline moment at c is in clock wise na...so..why it is negative w.r.t D
@DCBAonline3 жыл бұрын
You are talking about externally applied moment which has nothing to do with fixed end moments, fixed end moments are calculated based on loads or moments applied on span and not on joints.
