Hi David & Tom a great interesting blog & very educational for those heading out to Europe as a driver for the first time ! To take on your advise and to follow your ways they can not go wrong as your ways are 100% true and well worthy of the time it takes . Keep on trucking @ Dc European .

My one and only trip over the water was delivering shop fittings down to XPO in Colleferro south of Rome through the Blanc. Went in a 3 truck convoy sandwiched between 2 drivers one who had been all over Europe with his dad in the early days and on his own on tankers plus the other had done all Europe plus Middle East and even convoys in Iraq during the war With Military escort( shown me photos to prove it) so I had great guides with it been my first time. I loved every single minute of the trip and would recommend it to anyone if given the chance. If I was single and had no kids I’d be away weeks at a time👍👌

How's it David, thank you for a cool and informative video. I cringed when you opened the rear tool box as I didn't see any locks or keys. I used to drive trucks from Zambia to South Africa and Zambia to Tanzania. Then I drove in south east Queensland, Australia. The reason why I cringed was, if you tried that in Africa, the next morning, you'd find an empty toolbox. We also had to chain our two spare wheels, diesel tanks and battery tray as these would disappear. We would have to put barbed wire on the back of a loaded flatbed to stop theft while going up hills. Watching you guys drive through Europe and on those beautiful roads makes me jealous. Thanks, all the best and keep trucking.

Good man Tom. Only got half-hour leeway on the Blanc - guaranteed that something would eat up that, then so (Customs, Policia Stradale, etc.); if Fréjus is open overnight, Plan A should have been head there. First did the Blanc when T1s needed to be stamped at Aosta - if you didn't make it there before 5.30pm Friday, you were eating camion stew until 9am Monday morning .... and there was a 5 mile queue of lorries up that old road to Aosta by Monday morning.

Hi David &Tom. Before the motorway was opened at the end of 88 gooing to the Mt Blanc. From the hot bakery just outside macon to the place Bellegarde was about 3,5 hours,With Livestock😉😉From Bellegarde,The Monkey Bar to the enterance was About 1.5 hour WHEN there was little traffic and a clean road. After the tunnel to the customsplace in Aosta was between 1.5 hours and 2 hours. The first 14 kilometers down were way worse then gooing down into france. I have seen many smoking brakes and many trucks with broken mirrors. But they were in a position you could adjust the breaks very well without getting dirty. Safe trips and keep the rubber where it belongs, on the road or in your pocket

@janvanrenselaar5998 Жыл бұрын
@@colinrunciman5166 You are right, but the dutch called it the Warme Bakker or in english:The hot Bakery. The same as The restaurant in Bellagarde was called Bellevu but the dutch and Flemish called it the Monkeybar, because Annie,the owner had a small monkey in a cage. Don,t know about the Bakery,but Bellevu is closed,passed on holiday last year.

I'm a former Canadian trucker "owner Operator" . Now retired. For many years I hauled fright from USA to Canada and vice versa. That took me all over the USA and Canada. I loved the Kenworth W900 I wore out two of them with my driver Allen. Between 1984 and 1998. I then began leasing tractors till I retired at 68 years old. During my time in the industry I met a Irish man called Brian Donnelly. He was a grate fan of the Scandia truck and told me many stories of traveling from Ireland to Italy. I since meeting Brian have looked a little closer at the UK tractors.. I would like to drive one for a few days to get the full feel of a Scandia with all the bells and whistles. I see your driving a D A F Aparently an other very nice UK tractor

@acd1202 Жыл бұрын
It's not the same over here, you still have to stop to sleep. You can take break in a moving vehicle so 4.5 hrs drive swap, 4 times but them you have to stop for 8 hours. In the states I believe you can keep going until you've both done 70 hours driving then have 34 off.

Authorities, if, only delaying British vehicles, thus causing delays ( maybe, to falsely blame it on Brexit?) is ludicrous, childish and narrow minded. Because it also delays supplies to foreign businesses. 10:37 The red and white cylindrical object above the tunnel entrances, is that a sign for tunnel closed or some sort of Red Cross centre? Brutal, scenery backdrop. Very stunning. Misty mountains with cloudy peaks.

@brianwebb191 A good pal and onetime colleague used to leave home near Doncaster at 3am Monday, empty to Grays to load at 6 leaving about 8.30 and be blowing out, it was a tank, at Pomezia about 80km south of Rome by 3pm Tuesday. Grays to Pomezia was 27 hours driving plus ferries and breaks. Utterly bonkers. This was 93-95 in a 113-360. Then the rest of us had to explain to our German traffic office that it just wasn't happening, he is mad, we aren't.
