Very good info on 'jumping the line' before customs as it turns all to be the same line after that. Not so good to move over from 207 to queue 208 because at the booth they don't know that and possibly other drivers are left without space now.

I've had potatoes and tomatoes chucked at my truck before whilst going through France to Italy during farmers strikes a few bounced off the windscreen so was lucky but did suffer some minor dents to the cab, thing is I support their cause but had a load to deliver and 1 to collect back for the UK so had no time to hang about.

Funny you should mention cash at Dover mate! In the early 2000s we used to run down to Paris often. It was never a full load and this time I had 2 pallets of printing paper which I had to deliver in Margraten near Maastricht. When I delivered it they gave me £5000 in cash and told me to check it.. I knew nothing about this so I phoned the transport manger who confirmed that was what I had to do, I was really pissed off as it felt wrong! My back load was Daken air con in Ostend and as I came through Dover they put me on the bay and searched the wagon. The customs officer searched the cab with me and asked to look in the safe, I said there’s £5000 in used English in there! lol. He took it out and it was wrapped in brown tape and looked like a drugs packaged. He said that feels like £5000 without opening it and I was allowed on my way but I thought I was for the high jump as I was only 26 at the time and didn’t really know if it was legal. The bloke who’s printing paper is actually my parent neighbour and I’ve spoke to him a few times since… I always remember when I handed the money over he gave me £50 which I was very happy with.

Hi Dave, love your videos although you are about 90 miles an hour lol, I have a question for you when travelling through several countries do you change the countries on your tacho as you enter them ie France as you enter Belgium do you then change your tacho to Belgium then as you enter Holland do you change it to Holland etc. I've not done European work for 20 years have the rules changed example when I left England I entered England when I finished my day in Germany I would enter Germany ready for the next day. Thanks Ron ps keep up the good work and best of luck for the future.

One thing I can say about the French workers...they stand there ground if there not happy about change.
@rabp4198 ай бұрын
Yes stand you ground but when it come to vandalism of tralier drivers getting assault and stock getting damaged is band out of order ☹️😠😡
@littlebigman69578 ай бұрын
They are not workers. They are clearly farmers.
@rabp4198 ай бұрын
@littlebigman6957 Are you saying that Farmer don't work or have staff who work for them 🤔
@littlebigman69578 ай бұрын
No far from it. I am a long retired pig stockman. I just hate the phrase worker. When I worked on the farm, I was a pig stockman . These days, I would be a pig worker. It's not very nice . I believe that everyone is entitled to a proper job description . By calling people workers , to me demeans them. My wife is a midwife of 30+ years. Now, she is classed as a medical worker . She works damned hard as a community midwife and not as an NHS worker.. I'm sorry, but these modern idioms just piss me off. Rant over😂.

Hi, Ref the loads that got cancelled last week ? Read between the lines ffs They Never had the work in the first place, As for takeing this job again read between the lines France is Chaos thats why you got the job in the first place lol. As for the load all it needed was dunage at the head board (ie Pallets) load the rock against it job done chain from side to side, As for the Rate ? One way trip ? if you have not got a reload better Not to have gone with it ? ( Is that why you got the job in the first place lol ) As for the Multimillionaire in Maidenhead you can see how he made his Money lol Getting jobs done for F/A.
@sachadee.61048 ай бұрын
even though I don't like your negative tone, I must admit I had a few of the same thoughts. "It's for a reason the going-to-France load paid a little more than usual, and it's a "slow-load", keeping you attached to it for quite a few days.
@brianwebb1918 ай бұрын
@@sachadee.6104 If i had been offered it ? the price would have been round trip money, Knowing there were problems over there, plus having to use back roads, as Knowone could say how long it was goibg to take ?

A "professional" truck driver (owner/operator) who is not too sure about weight distribution???? Strapped the load to the best of his ability...maybe that ability is not able enough... Of course, I am no expert but I would imagine that the load (stones) should be chained and secured so that you the driver is sure that they can not move (slide forward) should the driver be forced to make unexpected harsh braking? "sorry officer, I did my best, who would have though that 16 ton would make such a mess of a Nissan micra?" If only there was some way to know the strapping capability of the straps you are using...maybe a label or some thing?
@brianwebb1918 ай бұрын
Stones ?? turned out to be just slabs lol. A pallet on the floor at the headboard would have stopped any forward movement, as would some on the floor inbetween the rear slabs, Straps over them all good to go, Maybe trying to make an Easy job Look Hard / Difficult lol
@Me-ie8gl8 ай бұрын
Forgive me, but if you are given lane 207 you should park in 207 as the lanes can take a certain number of HGV trucks, so if you go to a different lane, there will be some poor bas7ard who should have a space but you will be taking it and giving them a problem because of your selfishness. Am I right or am I wrong only, God will decide and give you a problem later!
