Ambidentate means what

Ambidentate ligands have two donor site but can form only one bond at a time with metal. Eg. CN- it can form bond with metal either through C or N and also SCN- it can also form bond either through S or N. And bidentate also has two donor atoms but it can for two bonds with metal at the same time. Eg. ethylendiamine NH2CH2CH2NH2 in this both nitrogen will form bond with metal at the same time but ambidentate cannot.
