It is amazing that we are getting new videos of this line 18 years later. What an epic book. We used to play licks from this show at Bluecoats in 07 and 08. Tim Maynard taught Phantom in 03 too!

I seem to remember Drew telling us Tim was the battery visual guy for this group and didn't teach hands. DAT TRUE?
@chrisgaray874 жыл бұрын
@@danielscott4701 Yeah that might be it! I *think* Tim might have taught music a little bit here and there from what I've heard, but who knows! (Probably Paul Rennick and crew.)

It's true, Tim was our foot tech. Dennis Carry was our snare tech. 😃

Right on. Love seeing Tim's name come up . He was the best and the lines that dude taught were the some of the absolute best.

You’re welcome! I’m trying to focus on lines that don’t have a lot of videos on KZbin so they can get the recognition they deserve!

Such a great video, thank you!! The last time Phantom used Vic Firth sticks and mallets...

We had to.. I believe the contract with VF was with the corps and had one more year left. I *think* they let us use IP in the pit. Hardimons in the snareline instead of Rennicks. Weird for sure. Lol

I have footage of this line here at home somewhere when they stayed at my high school in Anaheim for about a week watching this group rehearse was amazing

Stupendous upload. This drum line right here was the reason for my love of drum corps. Thanks for preserving this, it's without doubt the best video of Phantom '03 around.

If you have more, please post! The best I've seen of us until now is the old Vic Firth videos, which are hella short!

This is the best footage I have. I have some clips of the lot at the Alamodome, but the crowd was so big the viewing angles aren’t very good.

Can someone explain to me the triangle warmup arc? I'm genuinely interested to hear the rationale/pedagogy behind that. Is it to keep the members in the zone? Feed off each other's energy? Always wondered.
@PaddricRyan4 жыл бұрын
I don't remember Paul ever giving us a reason, lol! Although, it became a hype for us. So yeah, definitely kept us in the zone and we fed off of each other. For me, it was like a bubble, easier to tune out any other groups in the lot.

I heard almost all members of this line came from crown 2002 like "Santa Clara Regiment 2011"...
@PaddricRyan4 жыл бұрын
@@小林大樹-g6o True. I came from crown 02/UNT. And 5 of us in the snareline came from UNT's 2002 PASIC line.

@@PaddricRyan So you know a Japanese tenor drummer...?
@PaddricRyan4 жыл бұрын
@@小林大樹-g6o I do! Masa came over in fall 2001 to march Crown with us for 2002 season. We took him back to UNT with us and he stayed with the center snare. Drummed with us to keep his hands fresh. After finals 2002, I think he went home for a bit, the came back after we went PASIC so he could come out to Regiment with us. Aged out in 03. Great dude!
