I love, is the original footage. In an orchestra and not everyone plays the same all the time. It plays the music of each instrument. The viewer only hears all.

They were all on trumpet to start thru the fanfare and then he switched to mellophone -- so you also factor in the challenge of playing two different horns during the show. View this to see the level of activity, distance covered, complexity of the drill, etc. It's an encore show after they poured their hearts and soul (99.65 ring a bell?) into a performance just a little more than an hour earlier. Anybody critiquing this for performance quality needs to get a life -- these kids were champions -- you get a view of what it's like to be on the field putting this on -- and celebrating an incredible year and an incredible finals performance... for the very last time...

But that's not bad switching between high brass instruments. Carolina Crown had low brass playing trumpets more specifically triple tonguing on them. I mean that takes some skill switching between that big change of instrument and sounding really well

This is a late comment. But in 2014 carolina crown had even the tubas playing trumpets. And they would throw their instruments into the air.

Our band at BOA got first in our class so of course we had to do an encore performance and I swear, every time I think about it I wish I would've done my own clarinet solo right in the middle of the ballet. Like just a few random notes here and there would have been ridiculously funny.😂😂😂

The Corps Style of marching stems FROM a rich American military history of marching bands.-wiki Bands read new music and play lots of tunes, they practice scales. While I prefer to call them a Corps, people need to chill when someone says Marching Band, because that's what they are. Considering that they started as a corp because of the Military style marching. Corps is a Military term. Today's Corps resemble nothing to what they originally were. Nothing wrong with that its grown and evolved which is fantastic. But seriously some of you need to calm down. A marching band is a group consisting of instrumental musicians performing outdoors for the purpose of entertainment, exercise, and sometimes in competition. There is no requirement to have or not have woodwinds. Now I understand a lot of you take pride in calling them a Corps and not a band, which is normal and fine but dont snap on people for calling them what they are.

To the guy on drum corps planet who described the mellophone as a nasty vile instrument, i'm not sure i can disagree after hearing this. I'm surprised how much of the show this guy wasn't playing. How about we go back to an alto or flugelhorn for the middle voice. There's got to be something better than this.

I mean mello isn't a "nasty vile instrument" it's just they always get a note that is supposed to clash with the rest of the band, when a mello isn't clashing they sound mighty. I love the sound of a mellophone
