I did switch too to that kind of picking technic, and I suscribe 100% to the relaxation part ! It prevents you from using too much tension. Works also for gypsy style, see Seb Giniaux !

Nice Video! I´m having trouble muting the low strings since my hand is below the strings rather than above. My suspicion is that the left hand is doing most of the muting?

Always practice with an amp so you are listening and aware of your tone. The guitar will tell you how to play it when you listen to it.

I've tried to play like this because I like that tone and the feeling of firmness, but given up - I can't dampen the lower strings with this angle, so it only sort of works with flat-wound jazz strings because they don't resonate

Really put her on the spot with these solo's over standards. Static situation with little to bounce off. While she manages to produce solos which aren't just playing chops but have some interesting variations and a real attempt to play interesting things..
