Not just them. Dream sees humans as his children, he also sometimes see them as inferiors. Later on though when the ruby brakes, when he talks to death and is done with the vortex. He sees humanity for what it is. Destiny is also friendly, since he let's you see destiny and even change it if you want to. So you can be the master of your own fate, if you're fine with flowing your destiny at the same time. Otherwise though Despair and Desire are very undesirable to meet or talk to.

@deevee53482 жыл бұрын
"To be conscious at all is to be conscious of time, and of time's arrow: of destiny. And to know that is to know that time must have a stop: to imagine death. Faced with the certainty of death, we dream, imagine paradises where it might not be so: "Death is the mother of beauty," wrote Wallace Stevens. And all dreams, all myths, all the structures we throw up between ourselves and chaos, just because they are built things, must inevitably be destroyed. And we turn, desperate in our loss, to the perishable but delicious joy of the moment: we desire. All desire is, of course, the hope for a fulfillment impossible in the very nature of things, a boundless delight; so to desire is always already to despair, to realize that the wished-for delight is only, after all, the delirium of our mortal self-delusion that the world is large enough to fit the mind." - Frank McConnell, from the Preface of The Sandman: Book of Dreams

This is why some Orthodox philosophers have argued that there’s no memory as we know it in Heaven, as Theosis will have opened them up to something far greater than mere “consciousness”. This is with the certainty that we’ll ALL be resurrected. Something better will replace Time in the Silver City.

The most ironic thing is that Despair convinced Rao the Sun God of Krypton to create life on Krypton which would one day explode and She made sure that Kal would be the only survivor who would mourn the death of his entire species and his homeworld. But instead he got a new planet he calls home and was raised by loving parents who inevitably become the greatest superhero of all time. So in summary Despair is responsible for creating the ultimate symbol and bringer of hope in the entire universe

just something i wanted to point out about each of the endless, thier appearances are metaphor's for thier domains destiny is chained to his book because everything is bound to fate, and he's blind because no one knows what the future holds. death is meant to be pale because she's a representation of the absence of life, both before life when who you are as a person hasn't yet been decided, meaning your affectively a blank canvas, and what happens after life, no one knows. the reason she has an eye of ra tattoo is because the symbol represents all the sense, and death always knows when it's your time dream has white skin because he's a blank canvas meant to be colored in and made by the imagination of humans, and he has stars in his eyes because dreams are things of fantasy where you can see anything destruction is a tall and strong man dressed in warrior's attire, because he is meant to be an embodiment of power, chaos, and destruction, and soldiers are the ones who destroy their enemies, not their lords. desire looks like neither a man nor a woman because it's meant to be desired by everything, not just one part of the universe, and it has golden eyes because gold is something valuable that we pursue despair is overweight and pale because she isn't ment to have a healthy appearance, since she is shaped by things that most people agree is imperfect or flawed, she's meant to be something that is rejected by society as a burden dellerium is an ever shifting figure, because if she had one form, than she makes sense for a moment, but she's meant to be an embodiment of chaos and dwindling sanity

They could've been 8, having the infinity symbol ∞ as their family/nature sigil. The 8th could have been Dread, the personification of fear and terror, also inspirer of courage. The reason why Dream is terrible in his relationship as it feeds “Desire”, where Dream does not want to be controlled by. Desire & Despair despise Dream, because of people’s dream, people tend not to desire nor to despair anymore. Desire caused Corinthian to desire in living in the Waling world & to kill people, thus forcing Dream to walk on earth. Desire also pushed Roderick Burgess to want his dead son to be back, thus imprisoning Dream. Despair’s realm grew, while Dream is in prison, while people died in their sleep & Corinthian is killing & inspiring the Collectors. Desire impregnated the sleeping Vortex while Dream in in prison, & Dream almost killed Grandniece of Desire & Vortex that could cause his life. Desire sets everything in motion for Dream’s demise. In Season 2 Desire will set the motion by influencing Lucifer to want to be with humans, where Lucifer will handed the Key of hell to Dream, where he will face demons & entities that wished the key for themselves to rule Hell.
@julioriveragomez69952 жыл бұрын
Yes, to add, I think it’s more of a philosophical fight. Desire only wants people to have desire from it alone. However, we only truly desire because we derive it from our dreams. That may have hurt desire’s ego.

He burnt off a few pages from Destiny's book, in an encounter they had. That was actually meant to happen as it warned Lucifer of Fenris's existence. Free will versus destiny is one of the main themes in Lucife, anyway. And while Lucifer may be unable to "beat" Destiny as a representation of inevitability, he can very well beat the personification of Destiny, regardless of the fact that Destiny will get resurrected afterwards. At least until life exists.
@connormaine81782 жыл бұрын
Well no he can't beat him, Destiny just acknowledged that he can destroy that body, but Destiny is as much Destint as the book of destiny. The book of destiny is a personification too. And if Lucifer can erase himself by writing himself out of the book, which he need the book for. Then what stops destiny himself from doing the same? Nothing but his will and respect for nature. @imbored87072 жыл бұрын
@@arishemghoul9571 not really, lol. They are high-outer, and they can never ever truly die that's why they're called the endless. Not even their God the presence can erase them since they are necessities of creation.

These guys sounds like DC's version of the Eternals, but the Endless are much, much more powerful and influential. Although this video was recommended I'm glad to watch it through and through. Definitely a good introductions to DC's lesser known characters.

True
@Killgore-ip2yq2 жыл бұрын
That's a actually a great example. Nobody gets that the Eternals weren't originally made to be in main Marvel continuity like the endless and it shows. They are practically demigods with so much power but because the variety of gods or other meta beings out there with so much made up crap, writers tend to either demystify the Eternals or try to combine them into a wider canon which usually is just messy. Much like the endless, besides a few characters, they really should be separated so they can tell their own stories with few limitations.

@@Killgore-ip2yq But still character interactions are fun. Imagine Dream meeting the Justice League. Wouldn't that be fun?

You know if desire really was behind the death of dream that fool killed family. Sounds like old uncle Neal left room for another story.
@ImVeryOriginal2 жыл бұрын
It seems it only counts as killing family if it's done directly. The whole point of Desire's plot is that they manipulate the chain of events so that it's Dream's choices much later down the line that (knowingly or not) ultimately cause his doom.

Since we're getting an second Season, may I suggest casting Jenny Boyd(Legacies) as Delirium, if she is to be casted for Season 2. I thought she was great in the show and we never got to witness her heretic side more. But we saw her mental instability front and centered and it was great. She will be a great fit for The Sandman's Endless sister. Just an suggestion

I was curious about the rest, but now that it's on the Sandman stuff... I don't really want to listen as I've seen the show's first season and don't want spoilers for the rest. In any case, I'm working on a fanfiction and I elected to bring Dream of the Endless into an episode/chapter. as the episode/chapter is centered on nightmares, it is the perfect moment to introduce Dream. though, this version is pretty different considering I'm having them be set in a SPN universe. While different, I am doing the best I can to retain what makes Dream the person they are. I am using the netflix show as my source of lore, so I don't know much. if interested, read Lucifer: A Supernatural Adventure. None of you have to, though. free will and all that.

In the series you kind of think that the actress that plays Rose Walker is Delirium. Mainly because she has colorful hair, and looks younger than she appears.

Right let me get this... The endless are older than gods etc but destiny ( the oldest) only came into existence when men started to have destiny's? That's a massive plot hole
@seanetteharris3076Ай бұрын
I know that this is old, but I just wanted to say that I don't think it's a plot hole. "The first sentient life forms" is what was said. Man is not the first. The gods themselves are sentient life forms and we know they've been alive for as long as our solar system and/or older.
