Product Review Bowser HO General Electric U25B Locomotive, SP Bicentennial Scheme
In this product review, Dan takes a look at an HO scale U25B diesel locomotive from Bowser.
This model train is decorated in Southern Pacific's Bicentennial paint scheme. U25BE 6800 was one of three units to wear this color scheme, along with SP GP40P-2 3197 and Cotton Belt SD45T-2 9389.
As decorated, this model train best represents SP 6800 as it appeared between 1975 and 1979.
SP 6800 was one of only two upgraded U25BE locomotives on Southern Pacific's roster, and it spent most of its working career in Southern California, often shuttling cars between Los Angeles and West Colton.
Later renumbered 3100, this locomotive escaped the scrappers torch. It resides today at the Southern California Railway Museum in Perris, California, painted in SP's standard scarlet and gray scheme.
As usual, Dan evaluates the model’s packaging, prototype accuracy, paint & detail, and how well it operates and conforms to applicable standards.
