I am a 57 year old DPC and I do understand how hard it had to be for all of you. I am happy to say however that I don't have all the issues that your roommate had. My roommates are not friendly as of yet because I had to move in with them from the 3rd floor. They are scheduled to leave sometime in July and have been here for a year. So yes I understand their apprehension to get t know the old lady .Third floor wasn't comfortable for me with grocery runs. I never expected to get this internship on the first try. My age was on the application just like theirs. Disney has been extremely accommodating to me and I appreciate that so much. I just wish my roommates would understand that I am not here to run their lives. I just want to empower mine. Yes I can still do that at 57. Thank you Disney for allowing us older ladies to experience the magic too. My body might not be as strong but my spirit is young and ready to experience the next adventure God has planned for me. Besides, I can't wait to share my experience with my students. Since Disney has become part of that and I earned it I will do what it takes to make the best of it. Thanks WDWDCP!!!

Forgot to say that all my children are gone, but I do have a wonderful husband at home. So glad he wanted me to experience this. It has been very difficult. The ups and downs of emotions in that sense is killing me. I miss him so much. Wish they had spousal housing for older DCP's. They surely wouldn't regret it.

Very well said Ms. Linda Graham! I'm 37 years old and I still feel and for the most part look like I'm 23... only in part of my coloring over my few gray hairs to my natural deep chocolate brown and not having any real aging to my face or body! But if I were to have thought about this in my late teens/ early twenties I would have loved the opportunity..... now I have children and roots kinda planted and couldn't ever think about leaving off and heading away to take advantage of an amazing opportunity such as this!!! If I had help with my children and it worked out for me and my children then heck yeah I'd love to have the experience but that is only going to take place in my dreams, my deep down, most restful sleepy dreams hahaha.... good luck to you Ms. Linda, may your dreams and aspirations take flight and become everything you desire and more!!! I'm EXTREMELY proud and excited for you that's for sure!!! XX

Young people are fun but I’d be a little weirded out rooming with people so much younger plus vice versa. Plus she sounds very immature for that age. Clearly, she had never lived with people. If I would have been able to raise my eyebrows above my head, I would've. This lady sounds horrible.. I do hope she got her life sorted out. I've been wanting to do the DCP for years and years, I'm 30 now and I might finally be able to do it.. So I am happy to hear that Disney doesn't discriminate on age :).

She does does actually have a chance for rehire, I dont know if she would want to be but... lol. I know from experience, Disney can rehire you if you are terminated. If it is a normal termination (due to: missing work, late, call outs, etc.) it would be after 6 months you are up for rehire. If it is a complex situation (altercations, insubordination,termed due to health issues, etc.) you go through a process of verification for rehire .

I know it's possible if you're termed for something dumb like too many call-outs or going to the park when you should have been working, but I don't think that applies when it was something more serious like in this situation

Sounds like Anne* was mentally unstable! How scary to have had to sleep in the same space! How did you enjoy your program overall? Where did you work? :D
@emilyswanderland6 жыл бұрын
Julie Morgan aha i wouldn’t be surprised!! I loved my program! I was in merchandise and placed at world of Disney in Disney Springs but I actually worked in all 4 parks through trading ☺️

"Can't understand what they're saying." Ummm it's still English like, what? And of course she assumes you're both from London...gosh I'm not even from England but that annoys the heck outta me!

Did you mean southern state as in somewhere in the US? If she couldn’t understand your accent, that’s just ignorant idk.

aha yep! I won't say which but it wasn't even deep south

it's crazy that she was in her 30s and still acted like this. i think you handed it very maturely!
@emilyswanderland6 жыл бұрын
Shannon Rose I know!! You’d think she would be the most mature!! But thank you, I tried my best 😅
@Luenysgo6 жыл бұрын
Still? At no point in time you should act like this. I don’t think it was a problem of maturity, it seem like she was unstable

...were there no other mature participants? Why would they room her with you when there's such a huge age gap? Also, you'd think they'd have a better handle on her mental state through the application process. That's ridiculous; Anne sounds like a terrible roommate and has some sort of mental imbalance. You handled her situation with grace and poise and I would've probably spoken to some sort of supervisor of the program, but I'm a tattle tale like that I guest :P

Disney just splits by over or under 21 - they don’t group people who are similar within that! And thank you, I’m glad you think so - I like to think I did 😅💕

It’s not your age that matters, just your attitude 👍

I have no idea how I got here. If 36 is old, then I’m the crypt keeper. I think it’s amazing that Disney is open for all ages to learn and work. On the flip side, she should have been put in older housing. When I was in college 100 years ago, there was an option for living on a 21 and over floor. The discrimination policies have changed so much since the 80’s but my college still has the 21 and over floors. Anyway...enjoy your time working for Disney!!

Her age wasn’t an issue (though it took me aback!) it was her terrible attitude!! 😅 thank you!

I wish I knew the answer 😅 but I probably should have told housing about the other outbursts in retrospect

Oh my. I live in a southern state in the US and have a friend who went to culinary school. She had a knife pulled on her by her roommate while she was in culinary school and a part of me wonders (mostly jokingly) if they are the same person. XD
