From New Zealand, I found this song 2 weeks ago ... Had never heard of Ren either, took a deep dive into his other works. Speechless at his brilliance. The whole world should know about Ren. He is something else entirely.

I'm 54 years old and generally more into old-school music than recent stuff, but this video blew me away and I haven't been able to stop watching it since. I hesitate to call it a song, because it's so much more than that, but glad to see I'm not the only one it's had such an impact on. Great reaction - the first of yours I've seen. Keep it up. 👍

i'll put my self in the list. i had never heard of Ren before, So the release of this was the first. i have a cousin in Ireland who is a poet and musicianBoth of us talk about the chaos and beauty of the world and share what we called 'layered vocals' . the talent and authenticity of this blows me right open. I have been very ill most of my life but just had to push through. I've listened ot this probably 3 times a day since it came out, and have found Ren's other music too. This morning this finally cracked open and i am grateful to breathe . I like all types of music for the most part but am particularly picky about rap, only a couple I like. oh, ya, 63 if we are counting

@@alysmarcus7747 I'm the same way as you about rap. My taste there is quite narrow. I love the fact that my comment seems to have drawn response from the more senior end of the audience though - can't believe I've ended up being the youngest one in the thread so far. Didn't see that coming. 😂

I’m 56. I discovered Ren a few weeks ago and I’m completely in awe of his talent. I like many genres of music, as long as it’s quality and Ren is the real deal. His music is incredible. In real life Ren really suffered from autoimmune disease and psychotic breaks. He still battles it everyday. That why his music is so powerful and genuine and frankly beautiful..because he's REALLY suffered and puts it all into his music its visceral on another level than other musicians.

For some more context on Hi Ren, here is what Ren posted regarding Hi Ren on an earlier video description (this was written before he released Hi Ren in December 2022): "Nina Simone once said that it was an artists duty for their work to fearlessly reflect their life circumstances. In 2016 I had a stem cell transplant that saved my life, this video was taken two year before that. After the transplant I decided to force my past into a little box and hide it from myself. I wouldn't ever watch this video back. There has always been a part of me that's terrified that I'll end up back here and loose myself again. That part of me always gets loudest when I'm on my own with my thoughts. When I got better and my music started becoming successful after years of never thinking it would be possible I almost treated it as a reincarnation. I'd barley talk about where I'd come from with friends, but despite my best efforts my past usually found a way to leak into my music. Here I was convinced I was going to die. I was severely underweight, I had severe bone pain every day, I could barley eat food, I suffered extreme fatigue to the point even standing in a shower was excruciating. I ended up in a state of stress induced psychosis, my minds only rational explanation for the level of suffering I was enduring was that it was some kind of demonic intervention or that i was part of some twisted experiment or study. This had been my life for years. I'd bounced from doctor to doctor full of hope only to have my heart repeatedly stamped on when my condition only worsened. Cut to present day and PTSD from years of my body torturing itself stopped me from doing work that I think is vital. Shedding light on a very under-lit , underfunded, and barley understood area. The plight of the chronically sick. Millions of people all over the world are missing. Trapped inside themselves. Conditions like ME/CFS, ehlers danlos syndrome, POTS, MCAS, lyme disease, M.S. etc. Receive such little funding. To put the lack of funding into perspective, male pattern receives over one thousand times the funding than many of these chronic illnesses do combined. Recent studies found the quality of life of a person with chronic M.E. was significantly worse than someone with HIV or breast cancer. M.E. is currently one of the most underfunded disease at the national institute of health. I was one of the exceptionally few very lucky people to escape before I died after receiving a stem cell transplant and finding a hugely restrictive diet that stopped my autoimmunity flaring to the point where it was disabling but I still suffer a wide array of symptoms every day. To dive deeper into living up to the words of the late and great Nina Simone, who has for a long time been a great source of inspiration for me, I wanted my next piece of work to fearlessly stare my past in the face despite the trauma of doing so. 'Hi Ren' comes out on the 15th December at 7pm."

I watched Hi Ren for the first time yesterday evening.. I’ve since watched it about 40 times.. I understand it, but I still cannot articulate what it is I understand. This reaches into the very core of me. It’s as profound as the writings of Zhuangzi or Lao Tzu and equally sincere and drenched in intuitive insight and wisdom.. I’m 47 years old, I love everything from Aphex twin, to Minutemen, Minor Threat to Bjork. The Dubliners to Bob Dylan. Nothing has shook me like Ren has. Genius? I think this song is up there with ‘Its alright ma’ by Dylan. Profound and truly beautiful.. ❤ 人 ❤️

Ren is a musical and lyrical genius from Brighton, England. He's an incredible storyteller. I love in this track how he plays different tunes on the guitar for each voice. I'd highly recommend his Tales Trilogy; Jenny's Tale followed by Screech's Tale and finally Violet's Tale... You can find them in 1 video on his KZbin channel. All of his music videos are live and most filmed in 1 camera shot.

"Ren is a Wormhole" - that's exactly it - I, like thousands of his followers, see him with one performance and automatically we feel compelled to deep dive and watch everything he has produced- and each piece is so unique, a surprise, covering a multitude of genres. He's a lyrical and performance genius, yet so authentic and humble. His Reach is two- pronged - those who simply enjoy and appreciate his music and performance, and those who resonate with parts of his story as he articulates their own pain and struggles. Imo, he's a born Warrior of Light and is now stepping into his Power to shine his Light of hope, inspiration and validation through the myriad of gifts and talents he has

I'm on to Ren for about a week now. 60 last September. Once played in a rock band. I think everyone in my high school did but that was 70s in So Cal. Life is hard. For all of us. Everyone has a cross to bear. Some are heavier than others. The suffering and alone time create new perspectives. Each of us have experienced the dark night of the soul. Probably more than once. I personally feel this as an indictment of my selfishness. I must not forget I am a human being. Part of a single race struggling to cope and survive in a shifting landscape called the human condition. I have watched this masterpiece over a hundred times, mostly though the experiences of each "reaction video" host. Midway through most reactions, there's a place where the reaction stops, and the experience takes over. I love to see this. It's powerful. And I remember. I will be kinder, and softer. With others but also with myself. Thank you Ren. 💜🎼🏆

I want to say this is the best song i've listened to in YEARS. But I can't. It would just be unfair to other songs. This is literally like a movie, it's a masterpiece and is on a level of it's own. Mind blowing talent.

For me it was one of them moment when you here a song that makes you feel like there is a pipeline to god or a perceived vision of pure good happiness.

That was about the gazillonth time I've watched this video. And truly there are no words, Most commentators are at a loss. Ren has said all that can be said, for now anyway. What a brilliant poet, musician, performer. Hi, Ren ... Ren forever.

Ren is a fantastic songwriter and singer! I can also recommend his other project / band "The Big Push" as well as his street performances with Tom Tompkins! And what you said is very true: Once you've found him you want to understand him. He offers lots of thoughts and perspectives in his music. He will surprise you multiple times! For me he is the Vincent van Gogh of music, if that makes any sense.
