I'm considering the Gazzelle as my first helicopter. We used them as air O.P platforms when I was airmobile Artillery, some of our Bombardiers and sergeants in the observation parties actually flew them for the Air Corps.

I cut my teeth with the Gazelle, it's a little frustrating to get off the ground at first but it's very rewarding once it clicks, if you can handle the Gazelle you can fly anything, plus it runs a very good frame rate compared to the gunships.

Gazelle was my favourite of all until the Apache came out, now its joint first. I own all the helis, and they are on sale for great prices regular so easy to collect them over the years. I do recommend Gazelle, flight model has been dramatically improved now.

I own them all too, the Apache is almost certainly going to be most people's first choice, I didn't pay full price for any of them, Apache was on for $39 when I bought it. My personal fave is the Black Shark, but the workload is a lot for one pilot.@@garethhughes5745

I just Love the ED AH-64D Apache, it's the best helicopter module in DCS and I have all the chopter and aircraft mods. This is still my favourite go to module. Thx for sharing Jucie.

I have about a 15% grasp of the Apache and I'm fine with that. I can fire the guns and missiles and use George and fly in the dark and it's pretty damn cool.

I honestly got it for the memories...and am trying to get @Tekada to get his setup running again so I can pilot for him being the Gunner. I have no interest in the front seat at this time...but love maneuvering it and keeping it alive. Tekada on offense and me on defense!

Played the heck out of the Jane’s Longbow series (1&2) and love the Apache. Just don’t have enough time to learn all the systems. Cold War stuff is much simpler for me, hard to fly but at least it’s more point the nose and press the button stuff.

For me, DCS is leaps and bounds in front of the competition, although it may not be perfect and each of us may want improvement in different areas, I see no real alternative. MSFS has its merits of course but for a full exploration of an aircraft's systems and weapons, there is no competition. I don't own the Apache, I still haven't gotten around to the Black Shark 3 yet and I bought my upgrade months ago, thats why I've had to ban any new purchases from ED. Having said that, I think the AH-64 is stunning visually but looking at the systems I think this module will need, and deserve, a lot of time dedicated to it solely in order to master the complexity of its functions let alone its tactical employment.

While yes, it takes a long time to create a finishing full fidelity module of a real modern aircraft and its advanced systems. But I think Enigma is wrong saying its a "trap", full fidelity simulations like this are an experience unlike any other. When you think about the time and attention to detail that goes into these creations, I think its a really really good deal, you are effectively flying a real aircraft.

Good point ⬆️ Enigma's comment does a little harsh and not very flexible, but I get what he's pointing to. I too have been warning people that they need to be sure why they are into DCS. It's no a video game when you think about it. If it were, why are individual modules so expensive, why does it take so much time to dial in your controls, and why does basically require a top-end PC and expensive peripherals to really unlock its full potential? If it is a trap, I don’t mind being in that clutch 😜 JUICE

Even with George missing with the new Lima models, I am absolutely loving the early access. I truly can't wait for the fcr to be implemented and use the Delta as it was really meant to. I have the Viper, F18. and even though i am familiar with the beta, so to me, it was more than worth it. I truly never considered it as a museum. yea, you are absolutely correct it is.

I love Apache and I love this module. But this platform is useless on most servers. Apaches are very slow and very vulnerable to enemy aircraft. Even if there are no enemies in the sky, by the time I manage to fly to the target, it is destroyed by F-16s and F-18s.

Yeah, true...that's why I recommend setting up missions with your friends on a closed server with everyone working as a team. DCS isn't like the other out-of-the-box games. Can you see something like this on a WT or IL2 server? I build our own training missions and we have usually pairs...2 Vipers, 2 Hornets, 2 Apaches, 2 A-10Cs and a mix of other support aircraft. Very little AI, just enough to get immersed. Our Tankers and AWACS aircraft all have dedicated frequencies and Mode 3 C squawk codes. The School of Rock kids are awesome and that ED Trailer to Thunderstruck was superb although I have heard that music to many DCS cinematic videos, fighter squadron deployment videos, B-Course graduation videos and more. When I was in the 35th Fighter Squadron, the pilots would invite me and the other enlisted Squadron members to their parties and when the commander would show up, Lt Col Byrd who's callsign was "Thunder" (F-16C Korea), the Lt's would immediate start playing Thunderstruck! Ah the memories...
