Oh man the detail is out of this world. I disagree with all these people saying how pointless and dumb it is while crying that they have to buy new computer hardware. The game keeps getting better and better yet they still want to pretend its 2010 and the game should run the same it did back then. Don't know if they realized but DCS has been under the knife for over 10 years and continues to improve, as does computer hardware. The increased detail looks fantastic and I for one wish every module was this beautifully rendered. A feature allowing us to check the plane/helicopter like in MSFS maybe with a pre flight check list would be awesome.

Hi, since you seems to be very acknowledgeable about the shark, there's something I wondered for many years. Can you load asymetrical external fuel tanks. For exemple 1 tank on the left, and the opposite hardpoint loaded with rocket pod ?

@@volkvoort nice, i'll need to make that in practice. Thanks for your videos ! But with asymetrical external fuel tanks, i noticed that I often ended up with quite high fuel quantity difference between the two internal tanks. Setting the intercom switch didn't help if I remember correctly... ?

@@jowenjv4463 Yeah, the fuel flows inwards, and then to the engine internal fuel tank that feeds that engine (i.e. left wing fuel tanks feed left engine ultimately). It shouldn't really matter - I believe the fuel tanks are very central front & behind the transmission, so you shouldn't feel unbalanced by any difference. I can't recall if crossfeed (X-feed) will level it out if you keep it on from the get-go, but it'll definitely ensure both engines are fueled when the one tank starts running low.

So much love and attention to detail, so interesting seeing such a strange and extreme helicopter shrouded in so much mystery and legends with it´s every tech being fully confidential for decades now opening up in front of me like it was my private heli. Too bad the same cannot be done with Apache or Hind too because this would be an instant buy reason :) Normally I don´t fly helicopters but I cannot resist this amount of attention to detail and absolute love for this gorgeous tech. There is unfortunately no demo and trial for this new heli (only for the ten year old previous black shark version) that´s why I don´t know this: Can it be started with all the maintenance latches open to see the turbine and some gears and hydraulic cyclic control levers moving inside?

Hmm. Yeah, only Black Shark 2, which you can trial but not buy can be tested. But BS2 is mostly the same module, as in you'll feel right at home in BS3 moving from 2. As for the hatches, the engines have to be off. I know they automatically close at some point in the startup, but haven't actually tested if you see moving parts at some point during that process before they close. Would be interesting.

@@volkvoort .. I just tried LCtrl + W in a new mission parked and cold. I tried it from inside the cockpit and in the F2 view. It did not work. I looked in my Control Assignments and did not find anything assigned to LCtrl + W anywhere. What is the command called so I can assign it myself?

@@MrSnacko interesting. It's "Service Hatches Open/Close". Under the Systems section of Ka-50 III. Default Left-Control W for me.

If you're still having problems with - I haven't checked if it works for the BS3 set to the 2011 version (without the MWS) yet. Maybe that version doens't open panels? Or might be that you set something else to LCtrl + W already.

The problem was that when I bought it the other day, the game prompted me to install it, and I did click to install it, and the game restarted to download and install it... but. It didn't install it for some reason. Today, DCS prompted me again to install it! So now LCtrl + W is working. Thanks much for your help.

I wonder if ED will one day make it back so the airplanes show up on time. Today, I was observing some LZ from ka50, and the other guy from opposing team approached it with mi24, landed and I haven't seen him at all, while looking directly at it. Distance 2.8 km. Not even when I overflew him... Same is with scaling planes 2 - 3 km distance and "puff" - magic Gene working. No plane in the air! Ground units completely merging with grass texture (like collapsing into it). Zoom in - "oooo there it is", zoom out a bit - "puff, gone" entire sa6 site vaporized (but trees and buildings all around clearly visible. Bhah, even those 10 km away or more). Rather joke, not a sim.

I call all of this useless fluff. Why the amazing exterior detail when there's no option to walk around our aircraft and see it all up close? Won't this new detail hinder performance eve further? What about the changes/bugs that 2.8 brought, such and abris not fully translated to English, helo shuts down when it breaths a little missile smoke, green terrible looking shkval screen , 2 seconds button press to fire Vikrs, all this anoys the hell out of me and I sure I'm not the only one.

@@cutetransgirl there are at least 2 or 3 different skhval displays, also with different phosporus being used, resulting in different colors. Also early BS has different cockpit

I had it surge tonight, and then no go down. So think they mighta dialled back the smoke ingestion. I still need to compare it to BS2 in terms of performance. Of course it's slower since the exterior is now VERY detailed, but don't think I saw stutters with the open panels.

pure waste of time on stupid things like the clouds that move in the game, I asked 100 players if they saw the clouds move while flying, none of them gave a positive answer and that's why that option in dcs was a waste of time, which player would sit in in the cockpit all day and watched the clouds move centimeter by centimeter, that's why I'm telling you it's a waste of time and very stupid

If you asked me whether they should do it...I'd go with no, it's excessive. But now that they have done it, it's good looking when the panels get shot off and you see the guts not just being charcoal blobs

To be fair, the moving clouds are anything but stupid. Having proper atmospheric simulation is vital to a flight sim, especially a military one.

That was definitely a thing in BS2 since Halloween. Haven't tried BS2 yet after today's patch, but seems fixed in 3
