Hey guys! As Of today the 21st of July, 2021 the cold start procedure of the F/A-18C now requires you to align your JHMCS HMD! My last attempt at this video wasn't my best but this version should be much better! Hope you guys enjoy it and it helps you out!

Thanks for this spud!. I’m waiting on my sim rig to be delivered, alongside some Virpil Gear, so I’m swotting up on some DCS content and trying to learn as much as i can before it all arrives. I’ve played flight sims casually before, but nothing as in depth as DCS, so these tutorials really are valuable to me, especially since I’ve picked the F/A 18C as my first module to learn. It’s so insanely detailed….but I’m looking forward to it, so thanks again. Fly Safe!

Hey Spud, I haven't purchased the F/A 18-C for DCS but I'm going too!. Meanwhile I have access to the F/A 18-E in another simulator and was wondering if the preflight checks and startups are the same between the two?

US Navy Hornet Ground Crew AT2 FC/TS here.. just FYI the Countermeasures WILL NOT FIRE with weight on wheels.. just like any other ordnance on the aircraft. You can set whatever you want and it still will not fire on deck. We have safety measures.

hey there, currently attached to VFA-143 working on F/A-18E super hornets, just thought this would be such an amazing addition to the F/A-18C and F-14A/B: eagle dynamics really needs to add squadron personnel that stand around and give you hand signals. imagine looking outside the cockpit and the plane captain is giving you hand signals on what to do next. and then the final checkers come through and give you the “safe for flight” run through. Or if your jet is having issues, the trouble shooters will come out and hook up to your coms and give you tips on how to clear the codes and fix the issue.
@thomasfreimuller44703 жыл бұрын
I totally agree, an animated ground crew for airfields like the one we already have on the super carrier would be awesome. I am sure once the super carrier is completed we will get a ground crew for airfields as well :)

When i start up the Hornet i turn all the instruments and the HUD on before engine start so the come to life as soon as the engine fires. Once the right engine is stable i turn on the INS alignement and crank the left hand engine. while thats starting i turn on datalink, iff and set tacan and ils channels + radios. When the left engine is stable aswell i shut of the APU and continue with stuff like standby ADI, Altimiters, FCS bit etc. Helps me get in the air quicker doing it that way^^

So the BIT run thru is not needed? I normally do the BIT by holding the Y key and left clicking and holding the FCR button and watch all the control surfaces move. It's actually kind of cool. And there's a lot of messages on the FCR page saying many systems are not ready. They just go away? I know somethings are very automated and do not require pilot in the loop.
