Nice work. I've noticed the Shrike does not do a whole lot of damage when I shoot it at SAMs. The other night, I carried an AGM-45A one one side, and an AGM-65B on the other. I might have hit the SA-6's Straight Flush radar with my Shrike, but somehow it could still fire. After evading a few missiles, I could see where they had fired from (from all the white smoke) and I made sure it went bye bye once the Maverick had gone through its 3 minute warmup.

That's because in dcs, there is no "damage model" . It's just a health bar. So aslong as the health bar isn't down, it keeps shooting.... wich is a bit ridiculous.

In my experience, you've got to hit everything with two Shrikes for it to be destroyed.

The Shrike is basically an AIM-7 that's fitted with a radar seeker. It has a small warhead and it's not very accurate. You need a minimum of 2, ideally 4 to reliably take out a target.

Gotta try with the sa-8. My experience with the shrike until now was of total failure. Looks like they don't track at all. But all of yours did hit the target.

Something just isn't working for me. All my Shrikes go into the ground well shot of the radar. even from 4km away and 10,000 feet.

How fast are you travelling to the target? From what I read, you have to have a lot of energy approaching the target. I am no EXPERT, shit I am learning myself but when I was below 500 knots, it will land short of the target

@@MrGoodnite44Going at least 500 kts, full burner. The only difference is I have an SA6 set up vs an SA8, I'm using the Mk49 Mod 1 Fuse in Direct Attack Mode. It's going to be something simple I know when I get this thing to work.

Okay needed to switch out that SA-6 radar for an SA-8, then it worked. Just need to see what I can use for an SA-6 now 😃

@@FJFuentesCO have not tried the sa6. I wonder if it needs a different a deiiferent RD guidance Unit instead of the mod that we are using for the SA8?

@@MrGoodnite44 The chart I have says it should be the same one, but obviously not, going to try the MK36 or Mk25 to see if one of those will do the trick.

Me too. I do not like attacking SAM all over again and setting myself up to take a SAM in the butt...lol.

The Shrike has a small warhead and it often did minimal damage to the target radar even with a hit.
