well to be fair, F-15 was crossing the F-16 pipper multiple times. He was already dead, F-16 was just waiting for that perfect moment. :) I don't fly with F-15 that much to know what to do to avoid that, since I fly the F-18 most of the time (and I also suck at dogfights big time) but I would have probably tried slowing down my speed and maintaining high AOA to force him into scissors or something. Again, not knowing what F-15 is good at, so might be a bad idea, but that's just my hornet mind thinking.

You won because he kept reversing in front of you and pulling hollywood movie evasive maneuvers. What you could have done better is spent less time with him in your hud. You were pulling him into the hud and keeping him there at high aspect, which means you're bleeding speed faster than him. If he was clever he'd have kept you there until your energy was gone, then killed you.

According to Russian data not enough credit is given to F15 high speed turning capabilities. At high speeds nothing could out rate him, the F16 could do it at slower speeds but not in high speeds rate fight (which would result stalemate). That data was given to Russian tacticians claiming that Su 27 would loose by slow margin at high speed low altitude rate fight.

I have to say, I had the feeling that there was something off cause the f-16 still kept energy although it was always pulling lead to gun the f15. I would had expected the f16 to bleed it faster, but definitely if the f15 pilot would had been mi are skilled the fight would had ended up differently

It depends a lot and that makes the dogfight so interesting. That is particularly true because when you have a wing-man to save you while you do radius defense. However many aces when they are alone they opt for the scissors because continuing the turn can just buy you time but if the bandit is in the control zone you cannot win.

@@southernbear736 basically the nose authority. It's been improved but there should be a sorta "snap" capability. In poor words, pulling the bandit into the hud when pulling really hard on the stick should require less time and radius in the turn.

You can actually beat F-16 at high altitude and speed. The Viper cannot maneuver so well in that environment like the Eagle do. At very high altitudes, a Viper can only go straight while the Eagle mantain some maneuver capabilities. At least in reality, I don't know in DCS. Also, we must take in account that the F-16 suffers far more than the F-15 for drag given by external payloads. For example the F-15 can embark four Amraam in a clean configuration; F-16 must make use of at least of two pylons plus the wingtips. To match the armament of the F-15 (4+4 missiles), the F-16 must be decorated like a Christmas tree, to the detriment of maneuverability, especially in the dense atmosfere of low altitudes.

Tuttavia l'ingaggio in questione si svolgeva a quote non tanto alte se non ricordo male, per cui diciamo che andare two circle in un f-15 contro un f-16 (che era stato concepito e sviluppato apposta per quello) non è sempre una buona idea. Se il pilota dell F-15 fosse stato leggermente più accorto forse avrebbe vinto.

@@tonyrun5802 Ciao. Fa piacere poter parlare in italiano. Io tendo a prendere DCS come spunto per parlare poi però della situazione di combattimento reale. Come ben dici tu andare in two circle contro un F-16 a bassa quota è una pessima idea e in una situazione reale il pilota dell'F-15 lo saprebbe bene, pertanto cercherebbe di mantenere lo scontro a distanza o ad altitudini più elevate. I due velivoli più o meno si equivarrebbero nella verticale (almeno fino a una certa quota, poi l'Eagle prenderebbe il sopravvento) e nei cambi di direzione, visto il rateo di rollio equivalente (250° sec, che però nell'Eagle senza limitatore tende a raggiungere il pazzesco valore di 500° sec). Il Viper è di nuovo avvantaggiato nel one circle, potendo virare più stretto dell'Eagle (ma non così tanto più stretto come si crede). Però non è il primo della classe: per quanto possa sembrare strano, il Tomcat, grazie alla corner speed più bassa, è capace di piazzare una virata assai più stretta del Viper. Tornando al two circle: In tutti i casi dobbiamo sempre tenere presenti quali versioni si confrontano e in quali configurazioni. Sembra strano ma l'F-16A è surclassato dall'F-15A tanto in virata istantanea quanto sostenuta, avendo dalla sua solo il raggio di virata. Può virare a 9g ma sostenerne solo 7. L'F-16C è molto superiore, potendo tenere 9 g sostenuti con un ITR e un STR or nettamente superiori all'F-15C, che è migliorato ma non così tanto rispetto all'A (ma ora può tenere i 9 g sostenuti). Ma tutte queste prestazioni si riferiscono in genere ai velivoli in configurazione pulita, con minimo armamento AA e in genere a mezzo serbatoio. Cosa succede in una situazione reale? Succede per prima cosa che il Viper, che è molto più piccolo e ha meno autonomia, dovrà usare molta più parsimonia nel postbruciatore rispetto all'Eagle. Soprattutto se l'Eagle monta i Fast Packs. Quindi non potrà sfruttare appieno le sue prestazioni. Succede inoltre che i carichi esterni penalizzeranno molto di più il Viper dell'Eagle, perché il primo non ha attacchi conformi e il secondo sì. Se l'F-16 volesse circa eguagliare un l'F-15 in armamento, elettronica, persistenza in area di combattimento, dovrebbe montare diciamo almeno 6 missili, due serbatoi ausiliari e magari un pod ECM. Tutto esternamente su piloni. A quel punto l'F-15 lo supererebbe agevolmente in virata sostenuta.

The F-16 SHOULD beat the F-15 in dogfight, it's more maneuverable in that type of situation. BVR though is a different story, and ideally the Eagle would kill anything before it got into a dogfight.

Nice keeping up the airspeed and all, only downside was the F15 is not really a fighter for dogfighting, i would of thought he was actually gonna try and slip away, but you did enough to force the fight i suppose and the F16 has power and excellent dogfight capability, was it just a matter of time? NOTE: if it was me in the F16 i would of been dead within 10 secs, but i do watch a lot of dogfight videos on dcs and while in theory i get it, practical not so much hehe :)

One of the things I enjoy about DCS is that people who are good at the game are humble and very few people who are toxic generally stand out. While we have a kill here it is not a good one. Playing sims is about professionalism and technique. The style of fight you have in this video is jokingly referred to as HUD BFM and is a huge red flag indicating your lack of experience. This is a common mistake by F-16 pilots in DCS. just because the jet does not have a target assessment window doesn't mean you have to pull the bandit into your HUD all the time, you keep the bandit 2 HUD's length above the HUD and when you are in control zone THEN you pull him in. An experience F-15 player here would easily out rate you go around the circle and defeat you in 2 circle despite F-16 having the best 2 circle performance. You are also very likely to overshoot and end up with the bandit behind you. The reason I am calling you out here is because your video title is exactly the kind of toxicity we do NOT need in the community and fortunately is not tolerated. Be humble, do more homework, and know that no matter how good you think you are you are barely scratching the surface.

The F-16 thrust to weight ratio is great enough to take that baby into the stratosphere and not lose much air speed while doing it. The F 15 is even greater thrust to weight. That was a good dog fight engagement.

No question about it the F 16 and F 15 are a couple of the fastest planes in the game. I got the FA18 thinking that it would be fast enough but then I started dogfighting MiG29A and realized some planes have special roles. F15/16 are definitely air superiority fighters. If I did get another plane in game It would be the high Fidelity F15 because its power is unmatched. It’s so good that our military is actually purchasing a bunch of F 15 EX superiority fighters instead of sinking a bunch of money into the F 35 project.

An F-16 clean with low fuel is pretty much a magical dogfight machine. Like it's a baby F-22. As soon as you add any kind of realistic loadouts it falls off super fast though and it can't fly anywhere on internal fuel, so in the real world this would never happen.

I guess it's all about skill really. I find myself dragging myself and my opponent slowly to the ground when changing altitude for energy. Usually the fight ends low and slow, when I try to force the other to overshoot with zero tolerance for energy lol :D I guess practise makes perfect, as I seem to dominate in snail speed, but I generally suck at dogfights on any other sector
