@ My understanding is that the AJSF37 upgrade only gave it more hardpoints and the ability to carry the Rb74. The extra hardpoints meant that it did not have to sacrifice recce pods to carry missiles. Afaik the AJSF37 couldn't carry the Rb15F since it did not have a radar. I could be wrong, feel free to post a source. With that in mind, I don't think the AJS upgrade really gave the SF37 much of a multi-role capability, but yes, it got more capable and was a very cool aircraft.

You probably already know this. But one thing I'd recommend is to not overfly the presumed target point as you never know what might be hiding there. I usually look for the target and if I can't see it I go into a sort of quarter or half circle orbit before turning out for another pass. And I could say something about the things you missed visually, but I know that I do the exact same haha. Still a fun video though with a few nice kills!

" I'd recommend is to not overfly the presumed target point as you never know what might be hiding there. " It's OK, I flew over this town on this mission a few times already. I know there's no SAMs there, for example. Some of the ground units are moving on the roads though, so finding them is a little tough. This mission is a real nightmare, often the only way to find the vehicles in among the trees and buildings is to force them to fire at you.

Pretty cool, and impressive on the A2A! One small tip I'd add though, take the RB-75B's. They come with a 10x zoom, and as such, makes it much easier to identify targets from a distance. The 75As have no such thing and you practically have to be on top of someone to find the target, as you found. Also, you can take up to 4x of those missiles, using the inner fuselage pylons. Save the RB-24s for the outer wing pylons. Thanks for recording!
@philstyle5 жыл бұрын
I used rb75T not A. Also I prefer to use the inside pylons for the a2a rb74 missiles which are all aspect. The 24s are rear aspect only. The 74s are far superior.
@digitalman010105 жыл бұрын
Ahhh, certainly. I generally end up taking 24s as I'm generally trying to avoid A2A in the Viggen, and unless I'm going with RB-15s or Bk90s, those pylons are spoken for. I think the Ts are just As but with a heavier warhead, yeah?

I'm seriously considering grabbing this in the current sale although part of me wishes that this was JAS version as opposed to the AJS. I'd say that I hope they also release the JAS seen as a lot of the work is already done but I suspect this is very unlikely. I've looked at the Viggen numerous times but I already own the Harrier, admittedly I don't think I can use the Harrier on Cold War servers as the "Night Attack" variant falls outside of the Cold War era if memory serves. I'd have thought the AJS-37 falls out of the Cold War era too as I thought the version in game only came into service in the early 90's but I maybe mistaken. Would you say the Viggen is worth owning alongside the Harrier? I know that they both do slightly different jobs, despite both being more ground orientated. For further reference I also won the Mirage.

It seems the module is an AJSH 37 from the mid-90s mod of the aircraft which combined the ground attack capability of the AJ 37 with the maritime search and strike of the SH37. But its still a strike aircraft not a fighter. The closest thing to a fighter at this time in Sweden would be a late model J35, since the JA37 was an interceptor and had compressor stall issues at certain high g turns and AOA.
@sheeplord49765 жыл бұрын
Could have sworn it was an AJS-37, not AJSH-37
@iz35085 жыл бұрын
@@sheeplord4976 The module is based on the AJS37 which is a 1991 upgrade of the AJ37 from 1971. Both are basically attack aircraft, with some limited secondary capabilities. As for fighter aircraft, that role was filled by the JA37 from around 1980 and and onwards. The RM8B of the JA37 did not suffer from compressor stalls such as those afflicting the RM8A of the AJ/AJS37 (to this end Volvo Flygmotor had redesigned the fans, the low-pressure compressor and the burn-chambers). The J35 soldiered on alongside the JA37 for some years, but was probably more of a pure interceptor than the JA37, although I don't believe that distinction was as relevant in most air forces after the 1960's.

@9:35 How did you get that RB lock ? Did it auto lock? I thought with Viggen that it is a fairly manual slewing process?
@Rikard_Nilsson5 жыл бұрын
It's an AGM-65 Maverick, according to wikipedia: "The Maverick missile is unable to lock onto targets on its own; it has to be given input by the pilot or weapon systems officer (WSO) after which it follows the path to the target autonomously. In an A-10 Thunderbolt II, for example, the video feed from the seeker head is relayed to a screen in the cockpit, where the pilot can check the locked target of the missile before launch. A crosshair on the heads-up display is shifted by the pilot to set the approximate target, where the missile will then automatically recognize and lock on to the target. Once the missile is launched, it requires no further assistance from the launch vehicle and tracks its target automatically. This fire-and-forget property is not shared by the E version that uses semi-active laser homing."
