Beautiful tutorial that we will help thousands learn a really sweet bird, but it should be noted that: Spoilers/anti-skid should be off during all carrier ops. Also, setting ACL on the hud and AWL/PCD steering command and following those cues will take away that nasty rio ejecting jerk that you saw when you hit your AP pinky switch.

If you set ACL on the hud display switch and AWL/PCD steering command button, the ILS indicators will be displayed on the HUD. It helps with the initial line up so the auto pilot doesn't have to make very drastic corrections when it's engaged.

Instead of using TACAN like I did in the video just use the ICLS or the 3rd button to the right from TACAN button it will display vertical and horizontal bars on your HUD and VDI and just follow them. And keep them crossed in the center to catch the glide slope instead of just using tacan with selected runway heading its easier

You engaged the auto throttle before getting on speed? At which point do you start to adjust the pitch trim? I have tried this 100 times and it doesn’t work. I can get it all lined up and have CMD CONTROL showing and it works a bit at first and then as I get close to the shit the system starts to radically raise and drop my nose until I crash

How did you know that the runway heading is 025? I can understand everything except that. Thanks for the video.
@Rlaxox4 жыл бұрын
It's close to ships BRC heading or just simply click on the ship while in the F-10 map view. Tho I'd advise from using TCAN in this situation there is a much better way of doing this I just did a poor job at showing it in the video. You can use an AWS hud display mode which basically gives you ICLS needles on the HUD (1 vertical 1 horizontal) which you can then center on the HUD and it will tell you if you're on glideslope or not and how much you're deviating from it. In my case, I didn't use it and used TCAN and because of that I wasn't perfectly aligned so when I activated the autopilot to land it corrected very aggressively to get on that glideslope, and that's not really needed you can do it much smoother than that.
@rickyalexander4594 жыл бұрын
@@Rlaxox thanks for the answer! Appreciate it.
@rickyalexander4594 жыл бұрын
@@Rlaxox I pressed f-10 but it says the ship is heading 39.
@Rlaxox4 жыл бұрын
@@rickyalexander459 That means the ship is heading in direction 039. But as you know the runway is angled a bit to the left I think it's something like 6-8 degrees so. BRC is used on Case 1 landing for example while you use runway heading in case 3 landing. Generally, if you use AWS aka ICLS you wouldn't really need any of this since it shows you the ICLS needles on the hud of the RUNWAY heading. So you can just use that instead of messing around with TCAN heading. Also, important tip depending on what map you're playing on you have something called "Magnetic heading" or magnetic deviation. Basically, if you click on a unit in F-10 map it will show you their "TRUE" heading instead of magnetic heading now some aircraft can choose to display magnetic or true heading while some instruments like Backup compass can only rely on magnetic heading. You can google this if you're interested in more but to sum up, if you're in Caucasus in F-10 map heading of 039 (TRUE heading) equals to something like -6 degrees of magnetic heading or 033 (Magnetic)
@rickyalexander4594 жыл бұрын
@@Rlaxox Perfect, that explains it. I landed on the carrier and it is 025 like you said. I forgot to take into account the magnetic deviation. So its 40 - 6 = 34 then minus the 9 degrees of the angled deck 25. Thanks a lot!

Can't get this to work no matter how hard I try. I do all the steps, but nothing at all happens when I press the AP reference button. Checked the mappings and everything. Just nothing. Edit: Alright. Got it working. Basically, you have to be on a pretty good glide slope to hand over the plane. It's real fidgety. I'd probably only use it in horrible light and weather conditions. Otherwise it's just easier doing it manually or with just the auto throttle.
