Seeing a P-47 Thunderbolt - a WW2 era bird in Vietnam is hilarious! I understand it's supposed to replace the A-1 Skyraider, but still funny to see him there!!! :D It makes me wonder why, with its ability to carry a huge amount of loads, it wasn't used in the Korean War? The F4-U's Corsair's and P-51's Mustangs were, so why not the P-47, which had tremendous capability as a ground support aircraft, which he proved during WW2.

I'm very curious, Where were you deployed while in Vietnam? When did you leave? Where did you go to Bootcamp? Were you drafted or did you enlist? Where did you depart from...What route did you take to be in the country...Did you fly on a commercial airline or on a cargo plane like a C130...or did you sail over on a ship??? How long did it take you? What was the unofficial name of where you spent most of your time???... You mentioned "1st Air Cav"...really...you actually are making that claim??? You mentioned ARMA...and there probably is a Vietnam version to that game so you think you can answer everything to pass the BS test but with all due respect ... Damn I wish there was a way to send DM in real-time...You say you were there, as a soldier in 1967...1967 huh??? Just curious, how long were you in the states after Bootcamp, and what base did you leave the US from??? I'm not gonna ask for your "specialty", rank, etc because I'll be able to tell if even if you perform hours of research... I am having a difficult time wrapping my head around that comment... Anyway, Where did you end up going while in-country??? ---what bases, areas, and for how long...what year did you come back and where did you come back to...The route you guys took to get back? Name for me, just 2 of your CO's and NCOs...and nicknames that are probably not listed on any Wikipedia page...I'm confident, depending on those answers...and I would recommend not attempting bc we both know...Just take this as a life lesson and be thankful your stolen valor routine is protected by anonymity...Anyway, if you do answer and if I happen to notice I probably could tell you the answers to the questions by just a few responses...but definitely what branch, Division, Battalion, Company, Unit, where, and when you were in the country... You do know making a comment, posting what you did is beyond not cool...in fact, it irks me...and I know that if you are who you say you are then you know exactly why I am replying as I am...If you are offended or try to be defensive please don't....bc I'm not engaging with someone who can't lie to my face...If does offend you just know that I don't give a rats arse if you are or anyone else is...like I said, if you've actually ever been in any form of combat beyond on a damn video game/PC then you wouldn't have an issue with this...I realize there is no way to verify or validate my words so I will provide who I am and my background but will say that I thought I was one of the oldest guys who actually watch DCS channels and at times a few others...But I've been a pilot for ~30yrs & have experienced firsthand what too many fantasize about and also have zero clue about the real thing...Unlike KZbin videos that are created from games or programs, there are those who have endured real-life experiences most can not even imagine...So, yeah, I'm gonna call someone out whether online or in-person when their appearance, their story, their wording, their persona just doesn't add up...and, for you to say you were in the service, in 1967 attached to or at a base where you say "1st Air Cav" was also located doesn't sit well with me...not bc I have ever been in combat in Vietnam because I haven't there...but I have family members who did...so for me, it's very personal...In fact, one of my Uncles who was a young stud back in the day had a football scholarship to a prominent SEC program but was drafted...by the way, if you were drafted how did that process work??? (again, I know you can find some answers but still)...He went off to Bootcamp, then my mother didn't know where he was for almost 2 yrs...until we learned he would be coming back...alive...but barely...he has never said a single word about what happened...he went in after you did and he's almost 80yrs old...he's now almost 80yrs old...I don't read, see, hear or know of many men in their 70s and 80s who sit around playing DCS or the other game you said...ARMA...I was a young kid when my Uncle was shredded over there...and I'm closer to 60 than I am 50yrs old...guys my age were the first generation exposed to video games...not the guys from 20yrs earlier... Of course, I could be wrong...and it is possible you are a 70+ yr old Vietnam vet who also enjoys DCS and ARMA...but even if that is true...there is not a single Vietnam or any other Combat Vet who would make the comment that a video creation from a video game "looks better than the real thing"... Geez dude...but If I am wrong, Keep it going and more power to you...with the difficult assumption that your not some cowardly POS who thinks he understands warfare bc of videogames or bc he has some military nomenclature/terminology down that gives him the right to be stolen valor proclaiming POS...Yeah, I do take it seriously and yes it does bother me... finally, you may not have given much thought and didn't mean anything malicious by stating that...Do yourself a favor..don't EVER PROCLAIM YOU ARE NOT...ESPECIALLY NOT A COMBAT VET... No need to respond just don't do it again... By some small miracle you are the 70+ yr old Vietnam Combat Vet then I am confident you don't give a rat's arse about my comments either....but if you are...as I said above...at least you will understand...For anyone else who thinks I am overreacting...even so, I really don't care and would and have made these same comments face to face as well in a post... for those who may have experienced or endured combat, war...I have no doubt that you'll understand and probably feel the same as I do... Intended to rant just not this long...

This is easily the best aviation game/sim based production I have ever seen about the air component of the Vietnam War. The effort you guys put into this is truly worth it, and the perfect music selection completes it. And to think, DCS is going to be adding the A-1 Skyraider, F-4E, F-100, A-7E, and F-8; not to mention there are now F-104 and OV-10 mods! We're starting to get closer and closer to a full plane complement for the Vietnam War era. As far as I'm aware, all DCS will be missing now is the OV-1, A-3/B-66 family, B-26K, B-52, B-57/RB-57, RA-5C, RF-101, F-102, F-111, and the A-37 (aside from a few more logistical aircraft and helicopters, gunships, maritime patrol, and small scout/FAC aircraft, many of which some not horribly complex mods could account for). Also could add the F-106 as an alternate history type of thing, since it never saw service in Vietnam but could have lol. What planes would you guys look forward to the most? Oh and don't forget there is an SR-71 mod if you ever want to find a way to incorporate that. Would love to see a part 3 or a remastered version in a year or two!

@@santannamv i understand what you are saying to a degree. The 60’s and 70’s were scary times. I think most of us saw the war as a necessity to stop communist expansion. We were die hard patriots with recent memories of WWII and Korea and were genuinely concerned for the People. The youth on the other hand saw it totally differently. And the politicians, as usual, screwed it all up. Most of us didn’t glorify war but yes we wanted it done right and over quickly, neither of which happened. Dear Dominik and team, this video is the most incredible action packed video I have ever seen. It is absolutely outstanding. It must have taken you 100s of hours ! Well done and thank you for your sensational commitment to DCS. Awesome 👏 Kind regards Nick

Thank you Nick and you're welcome. Yes, it took a while, but it was a lot of fun. I'm glad you like it. We and I think the whole DCS community really appreciate you being so close to the people. You don't find that very often these days. Thank you very much. P.S. Nice hoodies you have on offer, one of my team is crazy about them, I hope they still have some ;) Kind regards Dom

Great video! Throughly enjoyed it. Just 2 problems with it. We weren’t still flying P-47’s in 1967. Secondly as a Vietnam Warbird owner it would have been nice to see the FAC O-2 swooping in and directing the fighters and bombers to their targets.

There's no A-1 Skyraider available in the game, the Jugs are a stand-in. Also, I'm not sure if there's a Skymaster or Bird dog modeled currently in the game either.

this video just makes me want to go round to Eagle Dynamics and slap them repeatedly while I ask where the hell the F4 phantom module and vietnam map is before forcing them to watch this film with eyelids pried open in a tribute to Clockwork Orange and manically scream at them "Is this not sublimely cool as f**k!" whilst their pretty little minds break to the sound of Fortunate Son

This video brought something home to me. I wondered if mankind will ever excell at creativity, rather than destruction, because we show an outstanding talent for that ✌️

Outstanding soundtrack, graphics and my favorite the A6 and of course in the Nam era alot more skill and less electronics. Truly looking forward to this theater of operation or history. There's alot of missions and battles. Outstanding prelude ☆☆☆☆☆
