Michael Tait discusses ‪@dcTalk‬'s musical style, and how it evolved significantly throughout their career. Their first two releases, DC Talk and Nu Thang, were predominantly hip hop. Their third album, Free at Last, also mainly took influence from hip hop while the group's music began to incorporate rock and other influences. The trio's last two albums, Jesus Freak and Supernatural, were predominantly pop rock.

Just got back into it and I love every song. It really does hold up! So timeless. Something about mixing Michael's soulful R&B voice with a nirvana sound just did it for me. I was hoooooked for life.

Jesus Freak was very good but Supernatural was them at their peak. They went out on their best effort.

My question is what happened to DC Talk? Seemed like dissolved after they peaked with Jesus Freak. I always wondered what happened.

What Have We Become was my favorite of your bands Freakshow also Tait I have a strange example to prove it. It was not on the live Portland OR show video or FLAC but it should have been included because it is the best song on the album and at Harford Christian School a Reformed (I am not a TULIP Calvinist anymore btw because it is lies) school we were given a cool project by our young attractive hip English teacher to write an essay on our favorite modern song and the one that WON was Third Eye Blind's How's It Gonna Be but I wanted Tait to win DCTAlk and I love that song What have we Become so MICHAEL I fought for you I still got an A on the assignment but was disappointed that a junkie heroin rock band won and not a Christian band! I vividly remember how kind you were to me and my friend Damon Titus in Columbus 2003 on the Third Day The Wire tour I called Damon by his nickname Wonky (who introduced me to my all time fav bands of all time Caedmons Call and Phish in Christian and Secular respectively) and we went to see Third Day but your solo band (you were not with Newsboys just yet you were in those 3 solo Tait records which all 3 are pretty darn GREAT btw) and you were kind enough to shake hands take pics w your fans ME and sign autographs You may even recall the night even though you tour constantly because during the concert not yours but Third Days a woman had a heart attack and TD was kind enough to stop the show PRAY FOR HER while being taken to the hospital and then changed the setlist to more mild calm songs out of respect for a woman that may have died later that night YOU ARE A TRUE CHRISTIAN MICHAEL TAIT You remind me of Stevie Wonder one of my all time fav artists of all time and Songs in the Key of Life along with Pet Sounds and Quadrophenia The Rising Thriller and Jesus Freak are some of the best albums ever made Take me to your leader is my fav Aussie Lead singer Newsboys record as well I love Breakfast off that album so much MOCKING but in the best kindest possible Elijah to the sons of Baal way!!! Wow Tait we need to hang out I need to see if you love all my fav albums? I bet you love Whats Goin On Marvin Gaye and Jimmy Hendrix and I need to turn you onto Phish they are not 3 amazing singers but rather 4 amazing artists and NONE of them can sing well but they are my favorite band of all time ....but Jesus Freak holds a special place in my heart because it was the first live concert on a massive scale I ever attended in 1997 Bel Air Church of the Nazarene youth group in a van to Fredericksburg VA oh yes ....Audio Adrenaline BLOOM I will never forget how much I hated it because it was turned up WAY TOO LOUD but I have since come to love that album and band but they needed to lower those levels but you guys were amazing and I am nostalgic for that time in my life my dad was still alive he died in 2005 of stage 4 cancer and left me grieving and starting a path of opiate accidental addiction long after I got my BA at Cedarville University (shout out to Liberty too it was my other Choice) I never thought I would become What have WE become How about what has JUSTIN become is what my dad must think in heaven I think the reason it would be a miracle if DCTalk got back together is something to do w ME the black sheep of the band type Kevin Max not getting along w the other 2 (he has said some stuff about LGBT that is not Biblical at all and is obviously like myself struggling w Gluttony) I would love if they came out w another album because their music was great but the Tait Newsboys albums and Toby's albums are better than MOST DCTalk anyways except for Jesus Freak That was so like a Christian Nirvana which made it mainstream they are great at combining rap with grunge rock in a strange way in that one album...but like the new JT album song Alone...maybe we should just leave it alone, cause maybe we're best on OUR OWN Solo Artists is perhaps for the best So sorry about Toby's firstborn It reminds me of David in the bible and more personally I too was an IV user of Opiates and Fentanyl for years and am blessed to be above ground at all Is Tait on Coffee or Meth or something? That is not a joke Tait seems ADHD not just here but is always super manic like this sorta like me talks too fast and always sounds excited but my whole family does that crap My dad was bipolar This conversation is endearing and authentic Derek Webb became an atheist and was a member of my favorite Christian Band Think about that all TULIP the P in that flower according to Augustine and Calvin 2 Gnostic Catholics says that that is impossible or would say he was a false conversion but Hebrews 6 and Revelation Jesus talking to people that know they are saved but told by God they are so NOT saved on the flipside of that coin prove that falling away and LOSING the PLOT is scary and warned about and talked about more by Jesus than the Kingdom or Heaven or Eternal Life for a REASON He is warning us about something VERY REAL Losing the Plot I for one do not want just white washed TOMB Hymns Give us the GRITTY TRUTH of Jesus What he actually says in scripture is SCARY and AGAPE LOVE Both sides but hard love and tough spanking are biblical We need to be spiritually disciplined by our Dad in heaven Our Father loves us but is willing to hurt us to prove it sometimes We are sheep and he has a rod and staff You know what the ROD is for right???
