This is my 6th Expedition with this vehicle and all were very abusive, be it Nepal (Malang/Mustang), be it Ladakh Overland last year where we pulled the Tanker, be it 2 Winter Spiti's back to back in -25°C to -30°C temperatures. While Hilux is one of a kind and you, along with other commendable drivers around the world, have proved that beating this pickup-truck isn't an easy task at all, I am quite impressed with the performance of the Gurkha. Compared to others (probably except the old Thar), Gurkha is the oldest, and has been running with the same OM616 engine that powers today's Gurkhas also, yet it manages to climb every sort of roads, be it snow covered or flooded with boulders. Truly impressive.

The dilemma now is, about investing 40L on a diesel SUV. If I intend to keep the vehicle at least for 15 years, do you advise getting any expensive Diesel car? Provided all the Diesel Ban and 10 year limit on in? Because after that it’s just scrap value, and you cant drive on major roads.

Having experienced all the major off roaders on sale today i like to rate them as Hilux>Jimny>thar=Gurkha.Wading in a hilux is such a breeze its bug and heavy and it can catch you sometimes really badly but for the type of condition shown here it all simply works. Then comes the jimny bang for bang it is unbeatable…there are some improvements you need to do with the jimny but then again you buy these vehicles to build yourself an experience i feel the jimny requires about 2 lakhs worth of upgrades the engineering in criticsl areas is oretty good but it is as if suzuki deliberately left some areas to be ironed out as per your own taste…The thar and the gurkha are the ones i have used the most…honestly the experience has been bitter sweet…both these cars lack the engineering finesse the Japanese have…the thar especially the petrol let us down a couple of times and the gurkha is such that it is just like a tractor in a cars clothing…utilitarian but a bit too much…but these are rare breeds of vehicles india and we do not value them too much…the culture here is not quiet there enough but i hope vehicles like these continue to be in our market…god damn i love them all!!!

I wonder how a Colorado ZR2 Bison with snow tires would do in these conditions. Turbo-4 gas engine but it has torque like a diesel and the chassis to match. 310hp and 430 lb-ft LOL

Only problem with those vehicles is their clutch based failure prone 4x4 system.

@@DCVExpeditions I've heard absolutely nothing bad about the new 4x4 system in GM trucks. I wish India got a version of the Colorado, because it would sell INSANELY well. Leaf springs, solid rear axle - pretty simple suspension setup, honestly.

Gaadi voh badhiya jo prepared ho extreme conditions ke liye, tyre mein grip ho, ignition start stop krte rhe baaki suspension utha ho. Driver chust ho and active rahe toh vih gaadi badhiya lagti hai.. Driver jitna experienced utni gadi badhiya lagit hai..Pehle aapne thar bhi chalayi thi and badhiya rahi thi, gurkha ne thoda pareshaan kiya tha bas.. Baaki Japani toh japani hai chahe jimny ya Hilux.

NOT SUV.. this is a pickup truck my friend.. both are completely different lol.. I drive an endeavour and was about to buy this for the 12L discount.. i have driven this pickup multiple times.. but not even close to an endeavour.. so i gave up and brought a jimny instead lol.. VFM...

Endeavour/Fortuner body type is called a Truck and Hilux/Ranger body type is called a pickup truck. Both are a subset of category called SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle). Have seen enough Endeavors with open hood in Winter expeditions where temperatures go below -25°C, Hilux/Fortuner fare better there. You are right about Endeavor having better ride quality but you can always put a better suspension on a more reliable vehicle.

Nevermind the SUV badging ... let's say Hilux is the best 4x4 available in India . Jimny is not bad , I own one ...but Maruti SUCKS . I would pick a petrol Toyota anyday if I had the budget . So next year planning to run for elections ....if I win , I'll make lots of scams n buy a Landcruiser 😉.
