Fun fact with the flail of the ages is that if you have an item or effect that would add cold fire or acid damage to the damage you deal with the flail and activate a different damage type you then benefit from procking debuffs from both damage types due to how the weapon is coded allowing you to get the -2 ac debuff on enemies alongside the chilled debuff from cold when you wear the caustic band

For the new short format: I liked seeing the build played and the key items. I didn't care for the "you could take this class/level instead" portion. Hey Colby! I love the look of this build and plan to go back and watch the main breakdown video so I can learn the ins and outs of it. One thing I would request in this style video if it doesn't take too much extra time to produce would be just a quick 1-12 level progression where you go through from respec and show how you level the character. I know there's the full build video but maybe just a quick breeze through prior to the combat section just for the people that stumble across the video without having seen the original. Love your builds, my buddy thought I was a mad genius the first playthrough I did with him because of your tempest cleric/storm sorcerer build :D

It's a build pretty much unique to these weapons which is quite the find, very creative. An addition to this build - or any martial build really, would be to use the Drakethroat Glaive, it has a similar enchant function like the Flail of Ages has, but you can cast it on other weapons. Just throw the weapon on the ground, enchant it, pick it back up and equip it, it gives it 1d4 elemental damage (your choice) and +1, which lasts until a long rest. Meaning you could either buff the Flail or Trident with even more cold damage. Only issue I found with builds like these is that - because you're aiming to GET hit - they don't work as well when your other party members are around, especially in multiplayer.
@Kurse_of_Kall10 ай бұрын
Started my own playthough of this build. The enemies just all hit Gale instead and he died. Poor Gale.
@krysuh693610 ай бұрын
In multiplayer just create oportunity attacks is that simple. Remember only works on enemies that have melle weapons.
@gerbie4210 ай бұрын
@@krysuh6936 That's a good point. I think my experience of it is a bit skewed because, when I tried a frost wizard build with Arcane Ward and Armor of Agathys I used that, but I also had a battlemaster who did this to trigger Riposte and from act 3 onwards a monk who did this to get his Kushigo Counter attack.

Hi Colby - I love that this is a dual wielding build, it seems like there aren’t many of those out there. Personally, I’ve been playing a few different dual wielding builds and I love the variety you can get out of them with the myriad of weapons available (Phalar Aluve is one of my personal favorites) and honestly I think it can be comparable to 2H/GWM builds. I would love to see how you would put together other dual wielding builds in BG3. Thanks for everything you do!

I've been playing a similar sort of build with what started as barbarian that took a couple wizard levels for big jumps and arcane ward and then a level of white dragon sorcerer for the Armor of Agathys, then warding bond via the lovers rings, provoking opportunity attacks intentionally is the funniest part of this build.

Karlach is my dedicated water provider. I do her with the returning spear from the goblin camp (starts in inventory along with lots of water bottles), and tavern brawler. However she starts holding the rain staff. Shadowheart goes with 9 tempest cleric and 3 wizard (divination), plus the warped headband of intellect. We line up at the edge of enemy visual range and put it into turn based mode with everyone grouped up. Karlach uses the rain staff and triggers rage. Combat has yet to start. Shadowheart opens with maxed double lightning bolt (96 damage) or, later when I get a scroll, Chain lightning (160 damage on 4 targets). Next turn, Karlach can throw the returning spear, which automatically replaces the rain staff in her hand. I can't wait to respect my Tav and give this build a try with them.

(Repost from the longer video buuut) My take on this type of build. Level one draconic sorcerer. Armor of agathys. Level two-five take abjuration wizard. Feat: dual wielder. Level six war domain cleric. Level seven-twelve wizard. Feat: heavy armor master, or alert. Illithid powers. Transfuse health, free cast, luck of the far realm. Items Head: helmet of grit Body: hell dusk or Adamantine splint armor Arms: gloves of balanced hands. Feet: disintegrating night walkers. Main and off hand melee: flail of ages, trident of the waves act 3 act 1-2 rain dancer and morning frost. Bow: dark fire bow Rings: true loves caress, ring of elemental infusion Amulet: amulet of greater health Cloak: cloak of the weave Necessary potions: Elixir of strength if you dump strength for higher intelligence. Potion of speed. Stats: intelligence 17 Strength 8 (set to 21 with elixir) Constitution 8 (set to 23 with amulet) Dexterity 13 Wisdom 13 Charisma 15 Use transfuse health to knock health to 50% which will give you extra bonus action from helmet of grit for a simulacrum of extra attack with the off hand. Drink elixir of strength, have ally cast warding bond via the rings or by some other means. Apply max level armor of agathys. Now you can make three attacks a turn, one main hand two off hand, or one off hand two main hand if you use the war cleric ability to pull off that icebreaker combo. My personal favorite is to cast a spell then attack with my bonus actions using the trident to apply the wet condition then walk away to provoke opportunity attacks. Also you’d have an extra bonus action for misty step 😉
