@paulpavlicsek1452. I'll give you a review. I don't like Victor Mature; he always has that sour expression, like he's just been sucking on a few lemons! And those bloody trumpets are loud throughout the film!

When you're dealing with a ruthless dope mob boss, be sure not to lock the door before you phone the Narcotics Bureau. I love Trevor Howard's American gangster accent and attitude. The way she exaggerates the words as she's lip-synching that lousy song is hilarious.

Always enjoy Victor Mature, Trevor Howard, Anita Ekenberg, the classics will always be favorites. They dressed so classy in those days. The soundtracks were wonderful. The scripts back in the day had substance without a lot of nudity and cursing. In this movie they are dealing with same today. Drugs filtering in the country, drug pushers, and sleeze cartels that push them. What has changed.

Victor Mature -- Italian by heritage, Kentuckian by birth, did many memorable films including Noirs such as I Wake Up Screaming, Kiss of Death, The Las Vegas Story, Violent Saturday, The Long Haul (UK), Gambling House, & Cry of the City. He made comedies, sand & sandals pix, war films, romantic dramas, Westerns, ancient history spectacles, & comedies. He had a great sense of humor, working in De Sica's heist comedy, After the Fox, with Peter Sellers & Britt Ekland. He also performed on the stage & TV. I loved him in every movie I mentioned as well as in Hannibal, Timbuktu, The Big Circus, Escort West, The Egyptian, Demetrius & the Gladiators, The Robe, Samson & Delilah, Wabash Ave, My Darling Clementine, My Gal Sal, The Shanghai Gesture. He was a leading man & a ladies' man -- romancing Hollywood's most beautiful women including Esther Williams after appearing in Million Dollar Mermaid. He was never the type to kiss & tell, but Esther revealed their affair in her autobiography. He was a class act. His favorite food was ice cream; it's my favorite too!!! He's one hell of an actor AND He was one hell of a man with 5 wives.

These movies of the late 40s and 50s gives us glimpses of America and a bygone Era. That aspect and most of the plots hold up even in today's world.

Sturgis was indefatigable, a Borzoi on a twenty mile gallop gonna kill that wolf . Howard's muffled mania prancing proudly from one locale to the next proves refined and elegant acting, an unforgettable performance. Wow.

Two others i can put a name to are Alfred Burke (best known as Frank Marker from the 60's series Private Eye) plays the part of Vincent Cashling seen at 12 mins, the other one is Brian Wilde (best known as Mr. Barraclough in Porridge) plays the part of the monk, recognized his voice before i spotted him.

8:40 she wouldn't be crying, she'd be estatic that she scored, she's only crying because how else could vic find her , As a recovering addict i'm always curious how they portray addiction and especially withdrawal in these old movies, Frank Sinatra was great in the man with the golden arm, someone involved with that movie must have known about it personally.

I've never seen an addicti jonesing like the waitress from the nightclub. The worst part is you'll loan them money because you feel sorry for them and they stiff you just getting the next hit. IV users are a sad bunch when they get strung out. Only thing worse is drug police trying to bust every little junkie they can.
