My younger brother and I would often go to the arcades playing DDR back in the day and he would choose this song as the last one for us to play together. I could only go about half way because it was just too damn exhausting but he could finish this without too much problem. Anyway, miss those days. not sure what you mean. A 12 on the new scale is about an 8-footer on the old ddr scale, 13-15's are 9-footers, and 16-20's are 10 footers. i may have made a small error, but this is roughly how the scale layout works.

New scale is generally 1.5, not 2 (18/1.5 = 12). Most of the legit 9s previously are now 13s, a few are 14s.

When I see this video, these are what I think: 1. (shocked) 16th NOTES CROSSOVERS?! 2. Wow... slower part... (and this time, the stepchart went like a disaster.) 3. Well the Andamiro made (and still can make, its not illegal) the original ITG2 dedicabs plus there are places where you can buy replacement parts which last longer than default Konami parts, like sensors for PIU will work on ITG. I really doubt that ITG will go away as it is very easy to maintain, plus it gives the players a challenge that pushes them further than any new Konami mix.

+Ross West I actually kind of liked the D2R ("FREEZE" Special) and maybe the BRILLIANT 2U ("STREAM" Special), but yeah the rest of them were really awful. The really appalling thing is, you don't *need* to make sucky charts just to make a big groove radar. You can very much do that with playable patterns. SN2 step artists just decided not to *but just stick to using idiotic 16th jacks and ridiculous jumps for no apparent reason*. Besides, DEGRS's Groove Radar could have been even bigger :P EDIT: I take back the first part of my comment. DYNAMITE RAVE ("AIR" Special) was okay, it was just really bland and they could have done more than just make jumps.

That's kind of how you max our the Air meter though. Seriously speaking, they were probably doomed from having to Max both "AIR" and everything else - there's a reason like no other chart maxes everything. Even with playable patterns, there's no getting around that maxing air requires about 100 Jumps per minute (DYNAMITE RAVE "AIR SPECIAL"), maxing stream requires about 400 or so actual steps per minute, meaning that maxing both will put about 25% jumps in the chart, and that maxing out "FREEZE" requires putting most of the chart on freeze arrows. Honestly, I can say that if I was told to step a groove radar special, I would've legitimately used hands (as in "hit arrows while holding down two freezes at once" kind of hands). Relatively speaking I don't mind the 16th jump-jacks that much, just because realistically speaking if you're going to do consecutive 16th jumps on a dance pad that's actually the best pattern for them. Really, the only thing that offends me is the pattern usage; why crossovers in a chart already this bad I will never understand.

+Ross West "Kind of", but not necessarily. The AIR meter is simply a function of frequency of jumps per minute (and not a percentage of arrows that are jumps), so you *can* do more interesting things like "step-jump-jump" in 8ths and still make it look cool. As for DEAD END ("GROOVE RADAR" Special), the chart is just so wrong in so many ways. You don't *need* 16th consecutive jumps at 190 BPM, that's just their way of being ridiculous. They could easily have done more of that in the slower 95 BPM section, and it would have the same effect on the groove radar. And yeah, you don't need bad patterns to make a large groove radar AT ALL. They could have done good crossovers but they just chose not to. Instead, let's make spins using 16th arrows~ WHEEE!! Oh, did I tell you how absurd the blank spaces look in this chart? Yeah, they could actually have put more arrows in some parts.

You can't beat the numbers. Playing the game makes you a part of the scene and you can go to any walmart in america and get a version of DDR and start playing. Its available on ps, ps2, xbox, 360, gamecube and wii. but real talk, itg, ddr, and piu players have so much more in common and outsides couldn't even tell the difference. i think time is better spent focusing on the common ground then talking about which cool kids club is the coolest.

It's not In The Groove, really. It's Dance Dance Revolution. I just think that Konami should have seen the fact that they had to sue a company rising FAR faster than them as a wake up call. They still make the same low quality stuff. An HD lag? Pads that degrade within months of play? In The Groove had one shot at making machines (with Andamiro's help), and 90% of players I know agree they are the best out there. I just don't like that a good game is gone, and a bad game keeps on being bad.

Don't get me wrong BriX, ITG brought a new dimmension of game play for hardcore games, but it failed to do two things. 1. It failed to bring commercial appeal, where Konami and DDR are still very successful. This point is where ITG followers fail to understand about Konami's strategy. 2. Roxor failed to check with the DMCA, and Konami for the legality of the game, and how to make it legally compliant (the PIU resolution would had work for ITG, but Roxor Games differed)

k then real quick. how many versions of itg are available for purchase and how many future releases do they have planned? 1 for ps2, 1 for pc and 2 for arcade. SN 2 is basically DDR 10, there are just as many versions available for consoles in america and japan. konami has shown no sign of abandoning DDR. what exactly do you mean by 'alive'? i figure once you stop making games then that series is dead but thats just me.

Maybe you should play the ridiculous charts for the boss songs on ITG and ITG2 (i.e Vertex^2). Sure the SN Boss charts and Groove Radar specials are either too easy or ridiculous. As far as the announcer goes, DJ Scotty D left Bemani years before SN was released, and unless he authorized it beyond SN2, they had to use new announcers. Focus on urban music? Not much on the arcade versions, but more towards console releases. It's difficult to create a balance unless you get imports.

Haha. I didn't want to come across as ignorant. Konami's done some good stuff, but ultimately as of late, you can see their main motive is money. If you look at Konami's latest 10+ charts, they're all so uncomfortable, and the whole game is currently changing to be marketed towards the 'generic' community. (R&B songs, their announcer, their machine style.) They barely put effort into their last machine, the DDRX models break within 6 months of play. I just think it's not very impressive.

I'm not a fanboy sir, I like DDR, PIU, ITG and all the other music games that don't involve my feet at all. Also, I never said one game is superior to the other. I make simfiles every now and then myself and feel that R21 is the single greatest feature to come to dancing games since ddr's edit feature.
