Interesting exploration. I was wondering what might happen with DDR5 if you were able to get a true 1 clock command rate and the timings as tight as the stick might allow. Though DDR5 controller may not even have such an option - and if it does, it's not better than JDEC or it'd be the default. Just interesting exploration for entertainment and discovery.
@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking2 жыл бұрын
true 1T isn't possible on DDR5 because the DDR5 IMC seems to have no support for gear1.
@cracklingice2 жыл бұрын
Figured it wouldn't exist. Would have been an interesting experiment if it did though.

Could you show how good this memory in this same setup could perform if you tuned it for max performance instead of lowest timings? I understand this configuration was bad, but it would help to understand how bad if you showed it’s best potential too.

I'm personally waiting until I can get ~100GB/s throughput for reasonable prices which should arrive in the near future, as your baseline seems around ~2 years away. Hopefully zen 4 will drop prices like skylake did back in 2016 for ddr4. Remember skylake? Seems so long ago.

I've pledged to not buy DDR5 until 6400 c28 or 8400 c32 are plentiful with xmp. Those kits should be very tunable and finally get us to latency parity with DDR4. With DDR5's other advantages, it will finally be the uncontested king.

What's the point ? You've brought RAM twice the price having inferior perdormance just to be in touch with Intel's marketing department.. I thought bandwidth was all what we need as well as 640Kb of memory 🤔

is quad channel RAM a thing
@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking2 жыл бұрын
2 sticks of DDR5 is quad channel because each stick has 2 memory channels, but each channel is 32bits wide. So it's not same as the quad channel you get on HEDT DDR4 CPUs like the 5960X, 7980XE, 2970X, 3970X which have 4 64bit wide channels.

its so harder when u use all of 4 slot each 32GBs with this frequency and CL and try to overclock and tighter timings in most Z690 DDR5 Boards u can see in spec they support only 4000 if single rank or dual rank DIMMs fill 4 slots! while 2 single rank can go up to 6666 in same mobo (Im talking in not OC mode) but even though always 4 stick make thing harder to get higher frequencies specially with low timings

Yes but if with ddr5 5200 cl 24 you have better benchmarks scores and latency from stock xmp let's say 6000 cl 40 that means that you also faster right? So..not a good overclock but if you are faster from your reference-xmp speed with higher frequency and latency we will be better and faster right ?

That's why you use memory with low settings on limit switching no 16 gb sticks only simular 4 or 6 gigs to your drive tb timings then you make roms virtual cell ramdiscs eg 6gb to 24gb vr roms and use software to increase the memory you have in variety to 2,500 mhz 3000mhz or 2000mhz to load at the same time on a lot of application booster and to get the oc value 1000mhz per ram 1500mhz on 5500 6000 + so the windows system application is optimized for speed and with data ssd and memory on volts from 1.34 volt 1 ram to 1.74v 6xram 1.94v 8x ram if the stupid software would work properly you could use 16 cores all core 16 roms with memory that you can use at the same timecals connection to your memory via ssd and the higher your cpu is the higher your gpu is adjusted thanks to oc temp the higher, the faster and more effective low sticks run and give off more power at the same time with less divided more current, so single rams is so high weak sin sof tware weaksin because it's only designed to be thick and simple, it's a swanky bench speed, not multi to real core, real speed, real data from the system, bulshiit, that's ddr5 for me, you can buy it in the budget, they never have more effective ram, they're just unwise to optimize it test with a time delay after csek loaded let it run at the same time with full sin support nothing works that's why I drive fps data faster so easy low clocks are more efficient on higher voltage more ral dual boards that's too stupid too expensive to build nowadays not even 6 or 4 no 1 2 max ddr5 well no idea weak sin all programming software must be supported not slowed uploaded because the rams are too big only individually less is the point. stupid my opinion

Keep in mind that when it becomes on par with DDR4, if using the same manufacruring node, the later would be twice as fast.. Same goes for DDR3, DDR2, DDR1.
