Collingwood fan here, Martin is the better player at the moment, had one unbelievable season (2017), alright in 2018 and 2019 and is alright in 2020 so far, however with De Goey being 5 years younger and not yet hitting his prime, De Goey could either flop and stay at this level or reach Martin’s level and maybe beyond. De Goey is a better offensive midfielder and forward, but Martin is a better overall midfielder, which is what I think makes Martin better. De Goey also has the ability to stand up in big games, with his 12 goal 2018 finals series supporting that.

Anyone who attempts to argue that De Goey is Dusty’s equal or better either doesn’t watch footy, knows nothing about footy, or is just a nuffy. Either way, Dusty is clearly the superior player. That’s obviously true but this was made back in 2018. I think the video is more of a comparison of their form in 2018 instead of their careers as a whole. Both were dangerous players in 2018 and it was arguably De Goey’s best year. So if you compare each players 2018 form, instead of comparing their careers as a whole, you get a much closer comparison.
