I got to ride co- pilot in one when I was a kid. You cant believe how awesome they are. One of those things you must experience to truly know what I mean. What a great memory this video helped me to relive. Thank you. 🤘🔥🤘

Great vid! Surely one of the most elegant aeroplanes ever to fly

Such a beautiful plane, and I love the mellow engine tone. I'd give my eyeteeth for a ride aboard one on such a lovely sunny day! The sepia effect at the start and finish is a mind-blower, certainly brings home that this is a craft from the Golden Age.

My first flight as a boy was in a Dragon Rapide, my father worked at Hurn for DH at the time and arranged the flight. We flew from Hurn Airport out over our house and did a circuit around the Isle of White. I loved it and the Rapide just looks so good.

I flew from Hokitika to Haast in a Dominie, maybe it was this one. It was my first ever aeroplane flight at age 16. Unforgettable!

My all-time favourite aeroplane. What a beaut. I nearly had a trip in one 10 years ago, at the Duxford air show, but a family member became ill, and we had to get back to Cambridge quick. This babe screams --ART DECO--at it's sreamline best.

I do not know much about this plane, but it appears that it would have some serious manuever capabilities

I had my first flight (aged about 7) in a rapide at Manchester airport (uk). Thanks to my uncle Ernie who paid the 10/- (50p) for me to go up. Manchester airport consisted of a few wooden sheds covered in black tarpaper

Beautiful airplane, I love this classic. Always thought it was under powered with the engines that look too small. Still love it, I need to find a 1/48 scale model of it and paint British roundels with camouflage paint pattern.

Two 9.1 litre Gipsy 6 engines, not so powerful but good engines and enough power for the aircraft

Only the brits could dream up such an elegant and goofy aircraft as this. I notice that the camera ship has the same wings and braces at 2:38 which makes this a rather special flight. There's a lot of DH Comet in this design which at least looked speedy. I imagine that full power would tilt the nose up some so hopefully there is a decent trimmer on board as opposed to the Moth's bungee cord.

After the Fokker crash in Kansas in 1931 the FAA banned all wood aircraft in the USA. What a shame !
@leneanderthalien9 жыл бұрын
+topspeed10 banned? i think not: the Hugues H4 named "spruce goose" was built in wood (1947)...
@topspeed109 жыл бұрын
Yes that was an exception...made of wood 70% strongeer than aluminium, called duramold.

dumas makes a kit for a dh89 for less than 100 dollars that would probably make a good elec scale rc model. . Anyone ever build or fly one?
