The 2016 CDC guidelines had a vast implementation plan, even though the evidence was weak. We know it continues to cause harm. 2022 guidelines had zero implementation plan or de implementation plan of the 2016 guidelines. When is academia going to step up and say we need to do something before all of these patients die? Or is eliminating prescription opioids so essential that the trade-off of death is OK? We are so far past the point of simply stating patient buy in is necessary and patient centered care is necessary.. we know that that’s not happening so what are some solutions before the eight 10 million left on opioids get cut off?
