De La Hoya is right, the biggest problem with boxing is all these boxers think they are promoters. Look at Terrence Crawford, he's one of the best fighters the world has ever seen and nobody barely knows who he is because he is, his own promoter. There's even less cross promotion in MMA where each promoter has their own belt instead of independent sanctioning bodies. MMA only works because the UFC has a monopoly but that won't work in boxing where you have too much talent from too many parts of the world. The more UFC grows, the more it's going to become fractured like Mighty Mouse Johnson being one of the best MMA fighters yet competing outside the UFC.

I don't know if you noticed but it seems like many boxers do get to pick who they fight and not fight lmao and it's a big reason boxing is low in views and Ufc is not. Boxers get paid bank but ufc fighters don't but ufc has clearly more control. End of day you fight with their platform so yeah stfu and fight. PEOPLE like floyd and conor are different bc they built that name. Floyd made people want him to lose. Conor did as well. Crawford will never have that aura and that is on him. I'll never forget years ago, maybe way back in the '80s or the '90s, I heard a Promoter say, the downfall of boxing is going to be fighters who are getting paid so much money, to the point where they're not going to be forced to fight as often, and they still make a far, far, above the average living... Promoters sued by claiming Al Haymon was paying fighters too damn much money, right? From a LONG-TERM SUCCESSFUL business perspective, now I've come to realize that what those Promoters were saying about fighters getting paid too damn much, has turned out to be a really valid argument... Recently, as a 64 year old life long boxing fan, I'm thinking that maybe a key reason why HBO was forced out of the boxing business, and now why Showtime has been forced out of the boxing business.. I can't help but wonder if it's partly because of just a FEW fighters who got paid so damn much money like Floyd in the previous era, and now like Cinderello and others in this modern era... Surely, no 60 days of training leading up to less than one hour worth of work in the world is worth over $5 million dollars.. Hell just a proceeds from just one or a couple of $5 million purse fights, that's properly invested in cryptocurrency can easily make these guys TENS of Millionares over just the next 10 to 15 years, or long before the typical retirement age... In other words, maybe Dana White is a far better businessman, from a LONG-TERM perspective than the average boxing Promoter in the modern era, because Dana keeps his fighters at a much lower pay limit, rather than paying just one or two fighters a ton of money... Boxing Promoters will come out way better by doing what Top Rank is doing by paying the top fighters a decent amount per fight and having a whole bunch of a far, far above average living, while having a bunch of those up and coming fighters on the roster, to keep boxing GROWING forward... That way they can put on a lot more fights in a lot of different midsize venues on every State between them all, and that'll help keep on building up the Sport of Boxing.. Isn't that what the NBA, the MLB, and the NFL do, by them having all these college teams , high school teams, and even Pop Warner Leagues in almost every City and in every State, all around the Country? It's almost like they all are farm teams looking to find the very bes potential PRO players... Another thing I think for motors are going to have to do is something similar to what BLK Prime did and what the zone are doing They going to have to figure out a way to be able to put their fights on their own app and build up a fan base around their fighters who are willing to pay a monthly subscription fee to see all their fights that they put on in all the different venues all around the country during the month, for a small monthly fee, We should be designed around what it would take The pay for safe 10 regularly scheduled fights per month... And even include amateur fights where the local fighters in all these different cities and towns and states can be highlighted on the app as if they're on TV... That's guaranteed to explode the subscription base is all these parents and grandparents and aunts and uncles want to see their kid and promote their kid fighting as if on TV by them all paying for a small monthly... Either way you figure it out the people in charge of boxing when I have to come up with another business plan because putting fights on pay-per-view charging $100 and only a few fighters getting the vast majority of that money That's not a winning, LONG-TERM business plan.. AND ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU GET THOSE FEW FIGHTERS LIKE FLOYD AND DEVIN HANEY ALWAYS WANTING TO FLASH THE BLING LIKE THEY GETTING RICH AND LIKE FLOYD TALKING ABOUT HE ROBBING THE BANK... WHO WANT TO SEE AND HEAR THAT KIND OF 💩🐂 WHEN THEY'RE BEING FORCED INTO PAYING $100 FOR ONE MOSTLY BORING FIGHT NIGHT...🎤💣💥💨🤷🏿‍♂️💯

The promoters don't have the luxury of a network that will cover the production and promotion of the events. He is delusional. He won't day. Just like Steven Espinoza would not say. Oscar is lost. He doesn't have an answer. It cost too much to produce boxing. Simple as that. HBO called this years ago.

Call Oscar what you want but dude is a smart businessman. He’s done both and has the experience. I get what Crawford is saying but dude is not very business savvy.

Point a finger at yourself, promoters and fighters wanting so much money they no longer have a need to fight more than 1 fight a year and the fights they choose avoids losing which lessens negotiations on futures. It’s the business of business is the narrative, even if it kills boxing.

Promotion companies aligning with different networks fucked up boxing. Boxing is ran like pro wrestling now, we never get the absolute best because neither sides are willing to work together.
