My father, Jerry de Leeuw,-LTZ-1 Vlieger Waarnemer, flew the Neptune from Valkenburg between 1960 and 1972. Next to the Catalina which he flew a.o. from Biak in Dutch New Guinea in 1955-1956, this was his true love of all the very different airplanes he flew for Squadron 320. When he passed away in January 2015, he was the last man of the 'Marine Vliegdienst', the special section of navy airmen that was set-up after WWII. Great to see this compilation, brings back many memories from my childhood days. Thank you Hans!

Remember these fondly as a kid hanging on the airport fence in the late 60’s watching Neptunes, Albatrosses, and C-47’s coming and going....from the opposite side of the planet.

Now you dont see these every day! My father flew in a P2V in the Korean war. He even got to fire of the jet motor once to dodge a Mig. The Mig was Bingo but still a scary encounter. They also dropped acoustic and seismic sensors along the Ho Chi Min trail in Vietnam working with the Batcat Guys (my Uncle). A strange but versatile aircraft for sure. Saw one in Pensacola pre-pandemic. Thanks for posting!

My older brother flew in these in the Mid 1960s stationed out of Maine. The photo flash flares started shooting at him while he was loading them on the ground and put him in the hospital close to a year. It deaths tail of the aircraft.

Recall the P2V gate guard at Dutch NAS Valkenberg. We purposely broke down in our P-3C Orion from VP-64 a number two engine chip detector light as Dam Square was our objective ha.

There is a silencing button. No need to listen. The pictures are the offer. Download the vdeo, put your so wanted noises in it and republish the video.
