Educational film in three parts, with intertitles in Dutch and Malay, on the emergence, spread and treatment of the plague in the Dutch East Indies.
The first part deals with the way the disease is transmitted from flea to rat on people, and the first remedy: home renovation, in order to prevent nesting of rats in homes.
In the second part a dramatized scene about a man who falls ill through contaminated rice. The third part focuses on the treatment of patients and an officer who does inspections. The town Tlogo had many cases. Various graphs depict the occurrence and spread of the disease picture: Between 1911 and 1926 the disease took 120 000 victims. The film contains staged scenes and animation.
