Vlad Dracula(son of the dragon) Țepeș(the Impaler) is seen as a national hero, not a tyrant here in Romania. The Barbaric tyrants the anthem is referring to are the powers that fought over control of the area: the Ottomans, Russians, Hungarians etc.

As a romanian i really enjoyed your video :) And yeah Romania's name was derived from ancient Rome. 2000 years ago romanian's ancestors called Dacians were invaded by romans and eventually conquered, so our present language is based on latin even if we are eastern europeans.

The Roman Empire was vast, and believe it or not, Britain and Romania were once the same country. We Romanians, are the only Europeans, that still call ourselves "Romans" and our language comes from Latin, just like Italian, Spanish, French, and Portuguese. Romania is forever linked to ancient Rome.

There's nothing barbaric about King Charles III, nor about his ancestor Vlad III The Impaler, who defended Europe from the Ottoman horde and kept order in his country from thieves, murderers and corrupt officials, as well as greedy outside empires trying to get a piece of the richest lands in Europe. The lyrics were about their brutish enemies, you might have missed that part. The name Romania does come from the Roman Empire, yes. We're the most Latin language on this Planet, basically Neo-Latin with influences from neighbors to spice it up when you need some synonyms. This country is the Gate outside European civilization as it were in the past towards the invaders from the South and the East. Always was the last unconquerable last Bastion of Light. Romans did conquer Dacia, the old name of the country. Thus Romanian language is a Romance language and Romania is the only country in the world still having the name of Rome in its name.

blue is in homage to the abundance of rivers and the fairest neighbor the Black Sea. The people of the land were never tengry worshipers. Light blue for the sky was an old tradition for christian cemeteries in some parts of the country. Light blue is more a symbol for the western neighbor if it had actually made it into the flag.

I did like your video. Thank you for uploading. The romans did conquer the region, it was named Dacia before that. It was the last teritory conquered by the Romans and the very first abandoned. We romanians actually stil call ourselfs, in our language, romans with just a slight slavic accent. Dacia after conquest by the romans, was heavily romanised. In the conquered teritory there were virtually no dacians left and was heavilly populated with roman citizens, mostly from the south of Italy. Dacia was not conquered in its entirety, there was a good chunk still inhabited by dacian tribes. Hence why my DNA even 1900 years later is 54% from the south of Italy, only 16% thracian(dacian), the rest is a small mix of german11%, hungarian10% and slavic9%. Vlad the Impaler or Vlad Dracula is seen to this day as national hero that stopped at least termporarly the ottoman's empire expansion into the Balkans. The national anthem is hinting at the Ottoman empire, Hungarians and Russians as barbaric tyrants. The three colors in the flag representing the three regions of modern day Romania(Transilvania, Moldova, Valachia) that were inhabited largely by romans(romanians in english)or not to create confusion bettwen ancient romans and whatever was left of a once mighty empire, in eastern Europe over a thousand years later, are named today romanians in english.

Genetic research shows that today's Romanians are descendants of the Dacians, we have almost no genes from the Italians, nor from other migratory peoples. Hungarians don't even have Hungarian genes, I don't know where you say they do. The research done by the Hungarians showed that less than 3% of the population have genes from the Hungarian tribes, and they are descendants of the population that was there before the arrival of the Hungarians, for thousands of years. Personal DNA tests are kind of a joke, if you haven't found out.

There is no such thing like daco-roman. That's just some invention in the communist era. Romanians are descendants of the Vlachs(Balcanic shepherds) from ancient Illyria. Illyrian population was romanized.
