I think we, in the Netherlands, still have a living memory on Whitney, because of Glennis Grace, then wherever on the world. 😂😉 And ofcourse, yes this is the Netherlands. We like concerts like The Toppers, Ladies of Soul, Whitney tributes by GG. Lately Beste zangers (TV). Party!!

Tot voor kort had ik meer op met de symfonieën van Bruckner en dergelijken. Toen hoorde ik Glennis zingen in haar eerste bijdrage bij AGT. Ik was compleet van slag. Ik kende haar wel, maar van jaren terug. De afgelopen maanden is zij mij blijven boeien. Maar ook als persoon, wat een heerlijk spontane lieve jonge vrouw is die Glennis. En hier, als ik luister naar haar stem. Inmiddels heb ik heel wat liederen van haar beluisterd via KZbin. De emotie die vaak in haar liederen door klinkt maakte mij wel duidelijk dat haar leven niet altijd even gemakkelijk is geweest. Inmiddels gaat het een stuk beter met haar, wat je ook merkt in haar zang. Ze stijgt naar steeds grotere hoogten. Voor mij is ze de allerbeste zangeres. Niet alleen om haar persoon. Ze gebruikt technieken in haar zang die maar weinig zangeressen gegeven zijn. Ik ken er in ieder geval geen.

Hi Gerrit, je zou toch echt eens naar Floor Jansen, Anneke van Giersbergen, Sharon den Andel, Simone Simons en Charlotte Wessels moeten gaan luisteren en kijken. Niet alles zal je bevallen maar Anneke is samen met Floor de meest interessante zangeres.

@@hansevers6407 Hi Hans, ik heb het afgelopen uur geluisterd naar de zangeressen die jij hebt beschreven. Het zijn allemaal zangeressen die onderling niet zoveel verschillen, en zeker van hun fans veel waardering zullen krijgen. En die verschillen, daar bedoel ik de door hen gebruikte zangtechniek. En die is totaal niet te vergelijken met die van Glennis. Ik bedoel het gebruik van: ‘Ad Lips, Falsetto voice, Riffs en Runs, melisma’s, Belten, e.d. En hierin is Glennis niet te overtreffen! Het zijn zangtechnieken waar Whitney Houston beroemd om is geworden. En in het gebruik van deze technieken komt Glennis heel dicht in de buurt van Whitney. Alleen in het gebruik van ‘Riffs’ is Whitney iets beter dan Glennis. Het zijn technieken die komen uit de soulmuziek, en geen van allen die jij noemden zijn soulzangeressen.

@@gerritdepater5616 Helemaal eens. Ook in het overbrengen van emoties, overtuigende interpretatie en verbondenheid met haar toehoorders staat ze op eenzame hoogte. Hans Evers blijft maar de aandacht vestigen op Floor c.s., tot vervelens toe zelfs en ook ik heb naar hen geluisterd. Natuurlijk helemaal niet slecht, maar niet het niveau van Glennis Grace.

@@hermanmertens8383 Ik heb in mijn leven veel zangeressen bewondert. Het duurde vaak maar een korte tijd, en betrof maar enkele liederen die ze zongen. Niet zo vreemd omdat mijn voorkeur voornamelijk ligt bij instrumentale klassieke muziek, met het accent op de romantische periode. Muziek zonder woorden met veel emoties. En dan kom je Glennis tegen. Een soul- en popzangeres! En zij krijgt het voor elkaar van mij voorgoed een fan van haar te maken! In het begin snapte ik niet hoe dat kon. Maar mij is inmiddels wel duidelijk geworden dat het te maken heeft met haar uitzonderlijk zangtalent en de emotie die ze zo subtiel in haar zang laat doorklinken.

Its hard to imagine, but Glennis Grace wasn't even the main act of this concert. She was a gueststar, who does her act for about 10 minutes long. Honestly, I think it's nice. She has a beautiful voice, but she is NOT Whitney. She has spent years listening to and imitating Whitney. Unlike when I listen to Jessie J singing Whitney's songs, I can hear that Whitney tone, but I can also hear Jessie J. She is an incredible vocalist herself. Glennis Grace is very talented and has been given a great gift. However, I would not pay to listen to her sing Whitney. I am going to check and see if I can find any vocals where she sings her own songs or some other songs outside of Whitney. I want to be fair. But, every time I have seen a video of her, she is always singing Whitney. That takes vocal talent and practice. But, to me its like seeing something spectacular. But, I wouldn't buy an album of her singing Whitney. If I want to hear Whitney, I'll put on one of Whitney's tracks. Beautiful performance.
