Dans le paysage baroque français, Jean-Marie Leclair fut au violon ce que Marin Marais et Jacques-Martin Hotteterre furent à la viole de gambe et à la flûte traversière : le plus grand joueur de violon de son époque. Les Ombres s’associent au violoniste Théotime Langlois de Swarte pour faire revivre son œuvre en regard de celle d’Antonio Vivaldi. Dans une démarche historiquement informée, ils réunissent autour du concertino, le ripieno d’un orchestre de chambre.

I remember very well the time when I talked a lot with Vivaldi about public presentations, that was around the years 1712 to 1716, the sound difference in rehearsing between musicians and presenting to the general public is clear, until today in day we notice these differences in the ways of presentation.

Violon solo dur et mécanique

It’s very modern style playing. Too much vibrato on unimportant notes. Mechanical yet also hysterical. If you use vibrato to hide bad intonation you are a fraud. This guy vibrates on weak upbeats and other passing notes, uses swipey fast bows on other unimportant notes. It’s a nonsense. He has a good technique but no taste. Is this what historical performance has become? Feeling seasick.
