In the lives of people with a psychological disability, where hope is a precious rarity, people whose birth cursed them with maimed brains try their best to build an existence for themselves in a society that hates them, ridicules them, and despises them, with brains that constantly work against them. Your respect and proper treatment of a weaker human being can make the difference between a horrendous life ending in suicide or one softened by kindness and friendship. Show people with a psychological disability the respect they deserve and try to keep in mind that the wordlview of your community is not an absolute truth when interacting with them. It is far easier than donating money, doing volunteer work, or risking your life in an act of imagined bravery, and it really helps.
