@@GeorgRockallSchmidt Fair enough. It does take a couple episodes to really get going, because the first book in the series it is based on is a "fix-up novel" that was made from combining several short stories. The first episode covers the first short story. Episodes 2 and 3 is when it really starts getting into the meat of things. I wasn't hooked until after episode 3 tbh.

I had a boxer who passed away in the summer of 2023, elderly by boxer standards. Something about seeing another big boxer never acknowledging their size while trying to sit in your lap like a small cat really brought back vivid memories or her time with me like nothing else has in quite some time. It often annoyed me when she did that, but I have missed it quite a lot since she passed.

Disco Elysium is remarkably good, I loved it. I do disagree with calling it a point and click adventure game, though, which is what everyone seems to call it for some reason. It's a RPG through and through. Best written game I've ever played and the way that a particular, seemingly unrelated side quest ties itself in directly to the ending of the main story was one of the best twists I've seen in any piece of media.

7:48 Yes yes, John Turturro is good. Do you know Fading Gigolo? John Turturro directs a film in which the main character (played by John Turturro) is a florist who by chance also is a romantic and great in bed with Sharon Stone and Sofia Vergara. Also Liev Schreiber as a policeman with Sidelocks and.... Woody Allen not ever shutting up

I am a cat person, and in Australia. I know what is required to be a responsible cat person. Cats love the close security of boxes, and a house is a big box with lots of smaller boxes inside it. Both gender live longer and healthier lives desexed and INSIDE. So unless you have a cat breeder's licence or the proper responsibility and means to home the kittens. (I had myself desexed, to make it fair, but you don't have to.) PS. Desexing people for ZPG should have been paid for by bonus back around 1970. $10000 vasectomy and $15000 tubal ligation bonus (more invasive surgery). Accepting this is probably proof you ought not have kids, and would only apply to the childless (maybe less than 2). No point if they already have more children than the replacement 2. Gelding for some blokes would not be out of place now, but vasectomy is a human convenience. Vas deferens can grow back and reconnect in cats and dogs, Too short. Horses of course are gelded for another reason. The same reason selectively bred sheep for fleece and cattle for dairy require male lambs and male calf to be butchered for effing Xmas turned into effing Easter! (Vegan philosophy). We truly are brutal to our resident aliens. The cost of our living is too often their extinction.

On "Squid Games", I was never much of a fan because from the material of 1st season, it gave me the impression that if they ever actually got down to portray an unprising next, that that following phase of the show would suffer from the fault of much left-leaning but mainstream fiction, of having this sort of fable or fairy tale quality when revolt is shown, in that most of the story would be the struggle, and then it would end with the system just falling and end before showing what new world would be birthed, with a vibe of "And they lived happily ever after" (like Zizek put it, I'd like to see "V for Vendetta 2" on people actually setting the better non-fascist system after the cool uprising of the previous one, and that's something I think most pop leftists are afraid to try to write). In terms of South Korean class warfare critiques, I prefer stuff like Bong Joon Ho's "Parasite" and even him (this important only because although "Squid Games" is "the baby" of Hwang Dong-hyuk, Bong Joon Ho advised on its creation and you can really see the influence) seems to have that flaw of tendency to that "fable"/"fairy tale" quality in his allegorical scifi dystopia "Snowpiercer" which maybe it's just my taste, but seems a bit lacking in comparison. Might just be me, but I think they would just start the fall of the system and cut to black with the insinuation of triumph, or have a major action killing some central command and use "you kill the wizard, so all things he magicked authomatically end" logic (which really isn't how things would transpire). On your "there has to be South Koreans involved on the games" point, rationally there would be, but the 1st season leaned too much on pervert American whites in animal masks being behind it, I don't know anything on the specific view of Hwang and little more of the specific views of Bong aside his socialist anticapitalism and what else we can get from his work (again, he is technically not directly involved, but he has been a big inspiration for Hwang and it shows, it has a style comparable to Bong distopia like snowpierder), but having in mind he is a known supporter of "anti-North Korea progressive" (i.e. they are South Korea patriots and not pro-Korean unity leftist, and anti-North-Korea), unless he doesn't subscribe to that part of its ideals and just does to the economic part, maybe he just has a worldview in which he wouldn't really admit South Korea's role as a developed power house and somewhat westernised country and will put all the blame in the US and try to portray the Koreans as "people of colour" hence victims of capitalism and never accomplices, despite criticising the local elite (again, I might be wrong, since I don't deeply know his individual thought, but my educated guess is if this show tackles all the ins and outs of the system, it will be mostly be blamed on English-speaking white furry perves, and the fact all those people go missing would not be realistically explained by "the local government took care of that legally" but handwaved with "western mighty white magicked all into being because they can do anything" since the show is more about the general allegory/critique and the character drama).

Hate to break it to you, but Disco Elysium 2 is never going to happen. After the game came out the entire group behind it basically imploded in spectacular fashion. We're talking accusations of fraud, team members being ousted, claims of humiliation and attempts to steal IP, only for the company to drop about a 1/4th of it's staff at the beginning of 2024. All in all an absolute car wreck of a company, and ironically as Disco Elysium as it's possible to get.

The only thing I enjoyed about Series 2 of Squid Game was the first episode when he was up against the Recruiter (Train to Busan guy), that was great but as soon as he was back in the games, it got boring, fast. Everyone seems to love the last episode, I didn't, it was predictable, simply due to who was involved. There is a severe writing issue going on with it, I believe, the same issue within current western writing.
