In 2008 I lost my job (cut from the Detroit Lions) 2 months after closing on my second home, and at the crux of the mortgage crisis that caused the stock market to crash and the real estate bubble to burst. Kay Kay and I were planning a wedding while simultaneously starting our lives over in New York. Coincidently we were also dealing with a change of guard as Barack Obama had just taken over for George Bush in the White House.
That situation prepared us for what we as Americans are going through now. But trust and believe, with discipline and sacrifice what seems like a never ending spiral of catastrophic events can easily become the SET UP for a COME UP.
It is an absolute FACT that an economic crisis is always the greatest impetus for the largest increase in the number of millionaires. The key is, you have to be prepared for it, and you have to be DISCIPLINED enough to weather the hardships while others are spending to “Keep up with the Joneses” and wait for the RIGHT opportunity to come along. Economic Empowerment is paramount to rebuilding a nation. START WITH YOUR HOUSE FIRST!

The Budgetnista is not lying about the cease and desist letter. Back in the day I had to send one to Nextel. Also, my family is big on the traditional susu. Also, certain mortgage brokers can use the money you saved from the SouSou for a down payment for a home. The money has to be deposited in the bank and be seasoned.

The toll this pandemic has taken on us!!! 🤦🤦 i had no choice but to stop working. I gave birth back in May on top of having to make a decision to suddenly become a stay at home mom and a teacher to two of four (homeschool 🤦) Lorddddddddd!!!!! Having a newborn (dealing with postpartum), a 3 year old, a 4 year old ( who started kindergarten in September), a 9 year old ( 4th grader ) and only one source of income (my husbands) ............. The struggle is REALLLLLL!!! WITH ALL THAT SAID I JUST WISH THE BEST FOR EVERY AND ANYONE AFFECTED BY THIS PANDEMIC!! MAY ALL UR STRUGGLES BE TEMPORARY!! 🙏🙏 BLESS YOU ALL. In Canada, we have the RRSP and TFSA. From my understanding, the RRSP is similar to their 401K and our TFSA is similar to their ROTH IRA.

Excellent conversation! Budgenista never dissappoints Curious to add instead of roth ira first why not just use roth 401k first. Also small business owners have several roth product options. If your income exceeds income limits the backdoor roth option is still available. Just tidbits to help conversation.

I hate Debt. Never been in debt. I saw my mom go thru it all my LIFE. Till this day. I helped her get out sooooooo many times. She keeps putting herself into debt. SMH. That was my learning experience. If I'm OVER her debts. I not getting into debt myself. I wish she learned not to get Into debt. 😕 she be Leaving me broke.
