If you’re reading this, I just wanna say this is my laptop and thank you Hussein for the quick repair! I took it to MicroCenter previously and they told me I would need to replace the motherboard… Glad I came across your channel. Your videos make me want to open all my devices and look at the motherboards 😂.

Not only does the experience help you do it quicker, but it also increases your workmanship. All your work is so clean. The owner of this board can also gain experience watching this, so you're definitely worth the price.

I do agree on that point. I argue this with some of my customers. They say “We’ll if it is that quick, you should charge me half” to which I reply “Well if a job takes me twice as long do I get to charge double?” That usually takes the wind out of their sails. But seriously I learned to never tell a customer the job will be easy because in their mind that means they are saving money, they don’t see the hours wasted on no fixes, research, testing, learning etc….

If you've done it before and I missed I apologize, but nice to see you finally using a brush through a kim wipe! This process draws residual flux and other contaminates into the kim wipe as the IPA evaporates. By far the best way to clean a board/module! Been using it for over 15 years now on both milspec/aerospace Class 3 and 2 products and consumer Class 1 or uncategorized gear. Do have to respectfully disagree with you on the IPA purity though. Yeah yeah yeah these aren't IPC Class 3 rework and repairs, got it, but I wouldn't even use 95% unless I was really in a pinch for a field repair. Too much moisture left behind, especially in the shop on a proper bench. Can't comment on rest of the world, or even really even across the pond, but for North American viewers Sherwin Williams (yes the freaking paint store) actually sells 99.9% IPA! Look for part number R6K20. It meets the federal spec TT-I-735A Grade A as having

Great video. I was amazed how it literally fell apart so easily. Wow. Just a question, but when you put those square things on motherboards is there not a plus and negative side or doesn’t it matter?
@HeavyLightRepairsАй бұрын
Capacitors can go in any way around😊
@chroboeАй бұрын
those are ceramic capacitors which do not have plus or negative side, but there are other types of capacitor that do have polarity and so it matters how they are installed (electrolytic and tantalum for example)
@iammnaborofficialАй бұрын
@@HeavyLightRepairs Not all capacitors.😃
@Poets04Ай бұрын
Ceramic caps are not polarized and can be placed either way in the circuit. You're likely thinking of electrolytics where polarity does matter.

@bblod4896Ай бұрын
Automotive repair shops use a flat rate manual or computer program to estimate how long it takes a technician to complete a repair. They then multiply that time by their hourly labor rate to calculate the total charge. If the technician works faster because he has experience, the shop still charges the same time for repair. There is no reason why you can't do the same. The customer isn't just paying for the repair, he is paying for the technicians experience performing the repair.
@HappyoldfashionfamilyАй бұрын
Agree with the pay deal. Why would you get good at what you do and charge less, and have to work more. Unfortunatly for me, i have done hvac commercial refrigeration for 20 years and only in last few years realized my mistake, now i work smarter and make more money.

Probably a dumb question.. but how come your multimeter beeps once when there is no short ? It is satisfying to hear this sound when the short is gone but ive had multiple multimeter and none of them makes a beep when im measuring. It only beeps continuously when there is a short obviously.

Asus laptops are also one of the most popular. Especially for gaming, so by that alone you are going to get a lot more of them since gaming by nature puts the laptop under a lot more stress than most normal workloads.

@ThisIS_InsaneАй бұрын
You are paying the technician for his knowledge, capabilities, and the results. Guaranteed redults. This still doesn't cover the countless hours we spend, re-learning and researching any given repair. Pay them for what they can do, not how hard YOU think the job should have been. Not being in this (or any other) industry, Users have no point of reference, as to how much you Should Know, to do this work and be successful at it. Physics, math, and other realms of science are brought to bear everyday, to get through this stuff.

Sometimes Alex replaces capacitors and sometimes he doesn't. Any particular rule that decides when?
@BigRalphSmithАй бұрын
I'd say it's when he determines one is bad. The reason it's sometimes not necessary to replace a cap is if it's a filter cap. Caps are often used in parallel in filter circuits to reduce ripple and smooth out electrical sources. Those circuits often have many caps in parallel and removing one doesn't significantly worsen the ripple.
