I worked as a bouncer for 6 1/2 years, and one of the things I was immediately taught, and then saw for myself, was people getting their drinks spiked. I caught people doing it, always males. Our policy was if someone set their drink down and walked away from it, and it wasn't on a table that someone was watching, it got dumped. We would replace it if their was a complaint. At a bar in our city, a bartender was arrested for spiking women's drinks. The truth is that this happens way more than folks realize.

In November of 2023 I was drugged on 6th street in Austin! My friend and I had a shot poured from the same bottle of whiskey at Vulcan Gas Company. We both were completely incapacitated on the side of the road. An hour later. His wife was there and luckily made sure we got home safely. I woke up with a broken ankle but otherwise unharmed. It was a very scary experience. Yall please test every drink you buy, even if you watch them pour it. The bartenders spike bottles too

This happened to me in Detroit in 2005. I was used to driving moderately for years. Went to a bar in Detroit got some drink 🍻 and went to another bar short after and I passed out and was outside of the bar because it had closed. Luckly my friends never left me. They do be spiking drinks.

I (Male) was drugged on my 21st birthday on 6th street by a group of ladies posing as a bachelorette party. They offered me a single tequila shot that sent me far over the edge which was very weird considering it was my first drink of the night and I weighed close to 200 lbs. One of the girls insisted she already called an uber for me but luckily for me my bike was locked up outside. I made it 15 minutes and 2 miles before I lost all motor skills and passed out outside of an elementary school somewhere to the east of the bar. After that I have no recollection of a taxi driver picking me up and somehow making it home with no further issues. I'm still friends with the poor guy that dragged me into his cab because I'm almost positive he saved me.

I, like many other men that have been in this situation, was actually too embarrassed and felt like I would not be taken seriously by the police. One rather important point not mentioned in this piece is that if the cause of death is drowning, there WILL be water in the lungs. And if a corpse is recovered from a body of water WITHOUT water in the lungs, that person was dead BEFORE being placed in the water. It was not mentioned whether any of the victims were recovered with or without water in their lungs. It is really not too difficult for a "journalist" to get a copy of the coroner's finding on the cause of death.

I was drugged in Dallas but at someone’s home. And the worst absolutely happened. My story went viral on Twitter but the emotional scars and trauma from that night are incomprehensible. I will never know what he did to me. But he paraded around a trophy photo of me, on Twitter. My eyes were glazed over and I looked dead. When I woke up I had no memory of the night before, only consuming a drink and passing out. I am lucky that man did not kill me. It could’ve been far worse. My heart goes out to these men and the families affected. The person(s) doing this are evil. Disorienting this person, stalking them, and then killing them and they had pure intentions of just enjoying the night out. I hope they are found.

I spent 2 decades in Austin. APD is one of the laziest police departments in the US. They are inexperienced to serious crime. Austin used to be a hippy town where college kids were known to party on 6th (red river district). Unfortunately APD doesn’t take anyone seriously that go down there drinking. The bars overserve with no consequences and the only “crimes” that are addressed are open brawls. What used to be a safe, hippy, college town blew up in the early 00s and crime went through the roof, but APD never adapted. It’s disgusting how APD blows off these victims found in ladybird lake, but not surprising.

Between classes, they would dance in the hallway. 🥰 Though he was strict, it was only because he wanted us to be the best! I still have the wooden camels pins he would bring back to give to us from Palestine. I recall everyone was in disbelieve once we heard the news... I’d heard this from people in Austin, other people denied it. Makes me wonder, I was working as a Lyft driver when I picked up a guy in north Austin wanting to go downtown. Then to a second destination. I swear the guy was going to kill me, so I came up with an excuse within 5 minutes of picking him up that I had to take a friend to the emergency room I can’t take you. He ran off into the dark away from the gas station. First time I’d ever felt that way in my life and first and only time I’d ever kicked someone out of my car.

The lack of concern from not only the police, but the bar owners is unbelievable. No one is that inebriated after 4 drinks over 7 odd hours. That is a nothing amount of alcohol. He was 100% drugged and that bar was told that and wasn’t worried? Why these bars aren’t showing more concern for their patrons is beyond me.

I’m Australian, so our laws are clearly different. When I was younger I worked in pubs, and security cameras are a legal requirement here and so is the amount of time they have to hold onto footage incase it is required by law enforcement. That is more the angle I was talking about. I don’t think you should be able to sue a pub/bar because you were spiked there, but if a complaint is made to police, that footage helps identify the person responsible. I wouldn’t think a bar would want to be know as the place you go to get spiked and it’s owners be so unconcerned about it. Just seems so odd to me.

I've lived in ATX for 23 years, and this city, as a whole, is notorious for downplaying and, or covering up crimes. Especially murder. Austin has always seemed to me to deny that hard or violent crime happens here. The city council, police, and even journalists here go to great lengths to pretend it's all just an accident or an isolated incident. Frankly, I am really disgusted by Austin's journalists in particular. I feel that it's their job to report and hold accountable officials who are clearly not doing their jobs. They are just lazy.

This happened to me on Rainey St. in Austin Tx back in sep 2020. I felt like I never felt before and I was a crazy drinking college student who was in a Frat at Texas State right up the road from Austin so I was not a light weight AT ALL. I had two drinks and completely disassociated mentally and physically. Container bar has been accused of this on reddit also and thats where I was. Luckily my public stumbling and resentment of illness caused a scene big enough to have the local cop arrest me for “DUI” and book me. Strange enough I was not charged or anything but simply released the next morning with no consequences. I could remember nothing the next morning AT ALL. That “arrest” possibly saved my life and ive been more that uneasy about that day for the past 4 years. Especially as of lately with hearing all these mirroring stories. Austin there is a problem.

Yes …. Wow… I am so so sorry this happened…. It happened to a friend of mine too while down on Rainey st. I am still so thankful that a couple who were walking down Rainey saw my friend (who was very clearly a young college student) talking nonsense to himself as he started walking in a direction that made no sense…. The couple walked over to him (don’t know all the ins and outs) but talked him into letting the girl “borrow” his phone …. She looked at who he had called the most in the last couple days and that person happened to be me…. She basically described what he was doing and acting like …. Which was highly out of character for him….. they stayed on the phone with me till I got there …. He was so irrational and belligerent that I didn’t even get the couples name ….. they saved his life that night he and I both believe this….. he knows at some point earlier he was at Container bar but he doesn’t remember the order of the bars he went to…. So yeah something is happening on Rainey that is for sure!!

I'm almost at the end of the video & I'm wondering if the elephant in the room is going to be mentioned. Many of the Lady Bird Lake victims look similar with their dark hair etc AND they are ALL MEN ... and this points to a different motive than theft. While those victims whose accounts were accessed and money stolen may be victims of a theft ring, clearly there are some victims whose money was not stolen and they are victims of a different sort. They looked pretty darn similar to this armchair sleuth.

I know I'm a 44yr old 5ft woman and I've thankfully, never been robbed, etc. My sons, except for one have all been robbed, or carjacked.. Sounds crazy, but I think some robbers have a code that they don't go after women if they're men. I'm starting to wonder if all these men were either drugged and fell into the water because they were so disoriented or robbed and thrown in, the robbers not realizing how disoriented and immobile they were.. hopefully APD does start to take this seriously, because this is so sad and infuriating..

There has to be something weird going on. I live in Perth, Western Australia where our population is about double the size of Austin, Texas. People die in boating accidents, bull shark attacks etc in our Swan River but if this excessive amount of bodies turned up in the water then there would be massive work done by our police to find out why. We have had a few serial killers with one who killed 3 women in the 90’s who only in the last few years was caught and prosecuted. The police never gave up on the case. The Austin Police Commissioner (Sheriff/chief) needs to go as surely the public cannot be accepting of this standard of policing?

I was drugged in 1989 at a nightclub called DALLAS in Austin. I had gone out alone for the one and only time ever. I was bored so I called a cab to go home. While I was waiting I started feeling very sick. Some guy started talking to me at my table. He wanted to give me a ride home in his truck. He was very aggressive. I said no Thankyou and said I was leaving . He followed me out and took hold of my arm trying to maneuver me to his truck. I saw my cab pull into the parking lot and wrenched my arm out of his grip and ran to the cab and jumped in. When I got home to my apartment complex I had to crawl up the stairs to my second floor apartment. At this point I was hallucinating seeing people that weren’t there. I was very fortunate to have escape that situation alive. He could have followed the cab and forced his way into my apartment because I was really really really sick by then.

I live in Seattle. There are several lakes (including the huge Lake Washington). Then (of course) there's the Peget Sound. The city is literally surrounded by water. And yet, there are nowhere near the number of deaths from drowning in Seattle as there are in Austin. Then there's the fact that most of these victims are men of a certain age. These deaths are very bizarre.
@Debbie-henri

For a few years, I used to work in a park by a large lake, the place absolutely surrounded by bars, hotels, private clubs, nightclubs and off licences. It was an area well known for very heavy tourism, so it was thriving day and night, much more so than Austin I suspect. And not once, in all those years I worked there, was a body found in that lake. I left 30 years ago, and never since has a body turned up in that lake - and yet a murder would be an easy thing to achieve there. This video is simply extraordinary. Indeed, I can't make up my mind what is more bizarre: the number of dead bodies in the lake or the fact the local police seem so indifferent to the situation. Even with the evidence of survivors of spiked drinks 'in the same area as where bodies have been found,' they still shrug it off as a line not to be pursued. Also, note the similarities between most of the victims? Not all, but the vast majority tick a few specific boxes.

The guy who recounted his story: I had that exact same thing happen to me. Went to the bar with some friends and had just a few drinks. I normally drink whiskey but that night I wasn't feeling like partying too hard, so I started off with a beer. I think I had 2 beers and a glass of whiskey and somehow got the most absolutely hammered that I have ever been in my entire life. Went home with some random woman and could barely get out of her car but when I did, I couldn't do anything but lay on the ground in her garage and that is where I stayed. Couldn't even talk. I tried to. And my thoughts were clear but I could not make a single word come out coherently. And the wildest part is that I woke up just a few hours later and felt 100% sober. Groggy but sober. I don't know if it was the girl that did it to me or not but what I do know is that I'll never go out in Redding CA again.

The version i hear most often is that theres a problem downtown with, basically, people drugging folks at bars to later rob them. Given how many bars are easy walking distance to the gentle-looking 'lake' (Town Lake is actually just the river) so some percentage of these guys are accidentally drowning after being drugged and sometimes afyer being attacked. As a one-off each one just looks like a drunken accident.

It sounds like someone is slipping a roofie into their drinks. If that’s the case the drug is metabolized quickly and traces are hard to find. People were getting roofied in our area, which happens to be a very popular tourist destination. Our sheriff’s department took this so seriously. They had deputies at bars and nightclubs. Bartenders and staff had meetings on how to be diligently alert. Patrons were warned not to take a drink from anyone, never sit them down unattended and walk around with your hand covering the top of your glass. Since this was handled so quickly the people that were trying to roofie someone really couldn’t. The incidents stopped.

I used roofies when i was a junky. You don't bathe in your own sweat as a result of using it. Not even when mingled with alcohol. If it were roofies, more people would die bc it's very deadly in combination with strong liqor. I am thinking something far stronger and the sweating is result of poison.. I had quite a few alcohol poisonings in my day and it makes you sweat buckets. These people didn't have enought to experience alcohol poisoning but in combintation with that drug... it seemingly results in constant sweating.

I had a panic attack and some people stopped to help me cause I was freaking out that bad. We still talk about how they offered no help.
