I remember asking the dude at my local record store in the early '90s what Dead Can Dance were all about. He described them as "12th century pop" which I still think is the best description of them.

Some people say that men should not mourn ... but with this issue I cried when DCD was in Buenos Aires. A portal to the celestial.

Lisa Gerrard & Brendan Perry are 2 of the most amazing musicians, together & apart.

Mourning is a very natural reaction and shouldn't be suppressed IMHO. PS: Gorgeous song... I agree with you, it's otherworldly beautiful!

does anyone knows what or who is BYLAR ??
@chirhoiota10 жыл бұрын
Lisa Gerrard usually sings in an idioglossa (sounds that are not actual words), so 'bylar' might not mean anything at all. Or rather, 'bylar' might be whatever you want it to be. It sounds a lot like the Spanish word for 'dance', though. Coincidence?
@stef4oo9 жыл бұрын
rankinkao Bilär was a medieval city in Volga Bulgaria (look it up in wikipedia)Although it may just be a pretty word DCD decided to use in their idioglossia ;)
@maxwellwellmax8789 жыл бұрын
rankinkao coincidently Bailar means To Dance in Spanish, and its pronounced with a sound like BY-Lar

Saw and heard this live this year (2019). It was pure bliss. The song opens up like a delicate flower and then hits you hard. In my case with pure happiness and joy.
