I about shit myself when I saw John Mayer playing with the Dead. I wasn't surprised that he had the talent: I didn't have any idea that he had the heart and soul to be Dead. I have to conclude that he has become fully Dead and has breathed new life into the Dead. He is not playing with the Dead... he is one of the Dead.

I will always miss Jerry and his noodling. In many ways he was the heart and soul of The Dead. But John is a fine guitarist and the spirit of The Dead lives on. Just happy the younger generation gets to experience it.

To those hating on John , he is nothing short of a blessing to help keep the legacy alive . I have loved the dead for 35 years, as I am “only “ 😂😂 44. My sis 10 years my senior was my influence. And now my 18 year old daughter has decided not to go to Europe for her graduation gift , but to go to Vegas to see dead and company at the sphere. And I am so stoked to do it with her. Thank you Dead and Company.

This song has aged well. Listen carefully and revel in the lyrics. A masterpiece along with Terrapin. Mayer does a credible job and has the sense to stretch it out to 15 minutes. This is one of the tighest bands in the history of music. Two drummers is brilliant. I am going to play this every day because it brings tears of joy. Two years ago at the outdoor Festival at June Lake. We got the live version with Melvin Seales while staring at the face of the mighty Sierra Nevada. Tears streamed down my face in joy.

I feel your pain I lost my older brother this year at 56. He took me to my first show RFK90 and he was in bad health but made it to several of these shows on their final tour and called my mom and me and talked about how great he felt, like he was cured, and how great the band was. For a little while it's been hard to go back to these shows so I haven't. But I've been revisiting the phish ad Dead shows we saw it the 90s and revisiting some pretty strong memories

Personally I think of Weir as less of a traditional “rhythm” player and more an accent based one. I guess that falls into the “rhythm” category, but I think his best work is when he’s adding texture and little details to the rhythm section. Its one of those things that doesn’t stand out all that much but everyone would notice if it wasn’t there

To those of you ragging on John Mayer's playing, or comparing him to Jerry and saying he can never measure up to Jerry, I saw several Dead shows where Jerry was very obviously loaded on heroin and was not, himself, measuring "up to Jerry", so there's that. Now I'm NOT criticizing Jerry for using; I wasn't in his shoes sharing his burden so I'm in NO position to judge him for using but we've got to stop worshiping Jerry as if everything he played was sunshine and lollipops. There were many times when his playing was subpar and I DO think Jerry would approve of John Mayer's playing tribute to his memory.

It's not on hold. Guy released an album and toured solo in the spring last year, dead an company all summer, another solo tour in late summer through early fall, then last minute Dead and Co did a fall tour, which was only put on hold before they could finish out the last few shows because his appendix burst. They were back at it in February but he did some more solo shows in January. He's a monster and he's just making more and more music then ever.

Uncle John's Band Grateful Dead Well the first days are the hardest days, don't you worry any more, Cause when life looks like easy street, there is danger at your door. Think this through with me, let me know your mind, Wo, oh, what I want to know, is are you kind? It's a buck dancer's choice my friend; better take my advice. You know all the rules by now and the fire from the ice. Will you come with me? won't you come with me? Wo, oh, what I want to know, will you come with me? Goddamn, well I declare, have you seen the like? Their wall are built of cannonballs, their motto is "don't tread on me". Come hear uncle John's band playing to the tide, Come with me, or go alone, he's come to take his children home. It's the same story the crow told me; it's the only one he knows. Like the morning sun you come and like the wind you go. Ain't no time to hate, barely time to wait, Wo, oh, what I want to know, where does the time go? I live in a silver mine and I call it beggar's tomb; I got me a violin and I beg you call the tune, Anybody's choice, I can hear your voice. Wo, oh, what I want to know, how does the song go? Come hear uncle John's band by the riverside, Got some things to talk about, here beside the rising tide. Come hear uncle John's band playing to the tide, Come on along, or go alone, he's come to take his children home. Wo, oh, what I want to know, how does the song go.

Great options from this channel. The crowd at SPAC was overcrowded but really fun. Everyone was passing to everyone else- best crowd ever in my concert going history

This was the first show I experienced Dead & Company. Fortunate enough to attend both Shoreline shows, both beautifully magical.

Also my first Dead & Co. show. And I agree that it was magical. I also liked this venue. It's closer to home and easier to handle for this old DeadHead. I wish they'd return to this cool little out of the way place. I'd be there.

This is so sweet. What a beautiful UJB. When dead and company formed I didn't even give John Mayor a chance, or anyone else. although I loved John Mayors personal solo career. I only new about 5 John Mayer songs at the time. They were all a major hits with me. My favorite at the time, maybe still, was waiting on the world to change but that was a more recent song when that one came out maybe 10 yrs ago or so. It was so motowny and then some. Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Sorta, Marvin Gaye Issac Hayes, James Brownish. You get the idea💡 I first realized John Mayer on the Chappelle Show. It was so funny, but John's Mayor guitar was Spectacular. I was in a dark place at the time. So, I kinda left everything behind, said alot of stupid things out of ignorance of the sceen between 97 to Very Very Recently, about a few years. So I been watching KZbin and I realize how ignorant I've been. But I was in a dark place for all those years. I said some critical dumb ass shit, but I was in the darkest of places. But I had the Magic Power of the Music in me. And it saved me and perhaps another person or too. Bobs so on target with his playing. Dead and company are having their final tour this year. I hope I will be able to go to a show(s) again. I want to see dead and company at least once before the diss-band. But the beauty of the dead, is that their are always gonna be the videos as the bootlegs use to be. I'm planning on having a mini theater when I by my home. High tech every thing, and large enough to have a dance 💃 🕺 floor. I'm gonna have party's with a large silver screen, while I wait on better holographic technology, but I actually believe this technology exists already in a great form, and, you can figure out the rest. Between 97 and pretty much now I missed out on all the shows, but like I said I'm gonna party and boogie with all my friends, and then in private with my wife and My boy. Gotta alotta catching up to do. But boy am I looking forward to it. The beauty of it all is that it's all going to be so so fresh for me. The Bob Weir Wolf Pack shows, and so many other musician's too. And I can't wait. I'd like to add this, as much as I love a live terrapin, and who doesn't, but my favorite has always been the studio version if lady with a fan, and the rest of it. It's my all time favorite Grateful Dead Studio. To me it's perfectly produced, it's flawless to me. And so so sweet. You can really actually feel the spirit in this biggest way with thst album.

Ive been going to to Dead shows from the beginning, I lost count. They were very rarely ever this tight . We liked the pandemonium, This might be a little scripted, but for better or worse...WOW.! John is doing a fantastic job. We can feel Jerry beaming down on him.

No one can replace Jerry. Jerry is gone and he isn't coming back. But the music must live on as well as our sub culture and with the possible exception of Jimmy Herring, I can't think of a better replacement than John Mayer. Jeff Chimenti is on fire! Oteil is as good as Phil ever was and the band has evolved in a good and positive way.

Because for one thing the grateful dead had a guitarist who could play all types of music. Like bruce hornsby once said jerry's guitar sang. Bob dylan said we will never see or hear anybody play guitar like jerry could. When jerry was on he war a monster on guitar what sweet sounds came from his guitars. Jerry's tiger and wolf guitars were auctioned in nyc for close to 2million a piece.

John Mayer plays multiple styles: Blues trio, pop/rock band, solo, Country. He's a brilliant singer/songwriter. I wasn't suprised that he can play Dead, but so well! I'm definitely a fan. Avoid his album "Any Given Thursday" unless you enjoy a lot of crowd noise, mostly girls screaming.
