I don't know if this helps, but I was a correctional counselor at Kansas State Penitentiary, now LCF. When an inmate died who was on my caseload, if his family didn't want the body, we would bury them. I personally had to wait until earth was put over the casket before I could leave. It was pretty freaky.

Went to a school run by moonies from ‘95 to ‘97. It was a good school in the area and my mom just said to ignore the religious Divine Principle stuff which was outside the national curriculum anyway. Ret.MSgt USAF While a Sra, my sup was a TSgt who was sent as a detail to Guyana to help clean up the mess. He told me the heat had swelled the bodies and many burst during handling. It saturated their clothing but all they could do was immediately hose off. Said the large had to be put in military containers for deceased (silver aluminum) and use the top and forklifts to seal it. Again, fluid all over. Ill skip the kids but the C-5 used was parked away from the base (Dover?) and striped for parts upon return. Some unusable as the smell could not be removed. Was not sure about his story until he brought in Polaroids.

Looking back now, I can see that it was certainly groundbreaking, but as a kid, it was just a great show and the skin color or ethicity of any of the cast never struck me as anything special - it just was. If memory serves, in the episode "Plato's Stepchildren", Nichols and Shatner engaged in the first interracial kiss, which I guess caused quite the buzz at the time. I can't imagine anyone else being Uhura.

Yes you are right. Many of those people were forced at gunpoint to drink the poison laced Koolaid. They didn't have a choice. Parents watched their children die right in front of them and were absolutely helpless. If they tried to interfere they would have been gunned down in cold blood by murderous guards under the order of Jim Jones. Only a handful of people survived that day including Jim Jones' son who is alive and well to this very day. Just an atrocious human tragedy.

As someone who grew up jewish, I’ve definitely experienced more hate from the right than the left (prolly cuz more republicans than democrats seem to be conservative, as well as Christian (the bad kind, not the chill ones) just from what I’ve been called and who said it). I do agree that it’s not only right wing tho, just the majority. Also, it could be seen as racism depending on which type of “jew” you’re talking about. Many jews racially identify as Jewish, and many just….practice the religion.
