Joe Flynn was limited in his acting abilities, but as long as he was playing a high strung foil to someone, he was absolutely perfect. No one could do that like he could!

Clip shows can be really interesting, when done right, as you do. I was never a big fan of Joe Flynn, but I used to love watching McHale's Navy when I was a kid. I think that they had a sort of weird chemistry as Commander McHale routinely outfoxed "Ol' Lead Bottom" (isn't that what McHale called him?). I've always had something of a fondness for clever (in)subordinates.

Joe Flynn was funny. Here's a funny story about him. When Bob Newhart got married to Ginny Quinn, her father was character actor Bill Quinn. Joe Flynn was at the wedding and exclaimed "Look who they got to play the father!" Like Bill Quinn wasn't there to give away his daughter but was hired to play a part. I believe he was serious. Pretty funny.

I did see Monkey's Uncle, the 3 Matthew Garber movies, Parent Trap and the Fred Mac Murray movies and one not well known The Happiest Millionaire. Very good movie, I have it on DVD. Lesley Ann Warren plays his daughter and a very young (and good looking) John Davidson is her love interest. It's a musical. Take care Steve ❤

I understand the theory that Song of the South was racist but by canceling it, how much did they keep any royalties from the actors and their families? I loved uncle Remus and Hattie! They made that movie. I think it also shows the strength and continuity of the black community vs the white. Anyway, I would love to see that come back to life. How is that worse than Gone with the wind? The best part of that movie was mammie!

New sub. As a veteran of the mouse factory, kept my interest.A lot of info I did not know.Met Ms. Funnicello on the lot while back for Mickey Mouse Club Annniversary Show.Very personable.I told her I used to see her and her daughters at Sunday services in the Valley years before, and she quipped, why didn't you say something? I told her I did not want to intrude during family time.

I have a copy of Song of the South on a Japanese released Laserdisc. One audio track has the dialog dubbed in Japanese, the other is the original English. All the songs are the originals and weren't changed to Japanese. Since Japan and the USA both used the same television standard, NTSC, it plays perfectly on our TV's. I believe it was also released on VHS in the UK but their television standard (PAL) is incompatible with ours . It's one of my favorite Disney films. I saw it in the theater in 1980 for the first time. It was released again in 1986 for the last time.

I've seen Flynn in a few other supporting/cameo roles, even in the classic _Twilight Zone_ TV series playing a befuddled insurance adjuster in the "Escape Clause" episode. He didn't have a dynamic range with it came to acting talents, but he always managed to amusingly bring levity or a light-hardheartedness to any film role he was in; whether it would be an amiable or obnoxious character. The script writers wrote to Flynn's strengths.

Please do a tribute to a forgotten family of actors, including Disney feature stars, the Cocoran family. Kevin was in several Disney movies and features while his brothers and sisters all had talented roles in several top movies. His sister Kelly probably had the most tragic early deaths.

What you said about Joe Flynn triggered me to write this. I never thought he was hilarious funny, and I too thought he overacted, overreacted too much. Now, the bloopers with him are really funny, and he did have a droll sense of humor that worked off screen. But what turned me off most about him was his one appearance on Johnny Carson. Its on youtube here somewhere. He just flat out missed the mark. Even Johnny was looking at him like what the hell are you doing? He made derogatory remarks to Johnny in jest that fell flat, but he did this the entire interview. I dont know what he could possibly have been thinking. He acted like they were old friends which clearly they were not. Anyway, lost to history. Thanks for a great channel!

Song of the South is available on KZbin. I didn't find it particularly racist, but I always thought Amos and Andy was much more respectful of black people than some of the sitcoms of the seventies that made black people into clowns.

This was a decent look at Disney actors history but some of the template writing is terrible when you talk about Bobby Driscoll dying at only 31. That's appropriate when you talk about Fred McMurry dying at only 83 that's crap. Crappy editing that screams poor writing and lack of PROOF reading. The same with Annette its tragic she contracted MS a horrible mental disease but if you make it to 70 you had a full rich life. If your too lazy to proof read pay somebody else to do it for you, Finally I saw the original Mickey Mouse club oh BTW it was always after school on weekdays. My Three Sons filmed filmed at Desilu Studios first then moved to CBS Studio. So why was McMurry even in this story. Specially when fact checking on line is so damn easy. There nothing wrong with using AI to help you do content . Not proof reading is so 4th grade. No Sub No like for you 👎
