Buy a silk bonnet so your hair doesnt lose moisture when you sleep and doesn’t get all tangled and matted in the back. It’s a life saver for black girls and we’re known to have dryer hair than our fairer skinned counterparts. I’d also recommend washing your hair less since it’s drier and your hair needs the natural oils from your scalp to come through. And please don’t ever go to sleep with soaking wet hair unless it’s in a style that’s meant to dry overnight. If you’re doing that often that’s probably why your hair is remaining so dry and brittle, aside from the bleach. good luck babes

Coconut oil can't actually penetrate the strands. The molecules are too big. At most it can coat the hair and make it feel and look softer, but its benefits to the hair are actually pretty slim.
@ctressler357 жыл бұрын
Corina it seeps under the cuticle of hair that is compromised and blown open. It will make it feel softer and look shiner because it's filling in the broken and missing cuticle. It cannot penetrate the cortex of the hair or repair any damage to the protein bonds done by lightening or over processing. Is it bad for your hair, no. But if you have severely processed hair like in the video, your going to want a protein rebonder, like olaplex. She only used olaplex step 3 though, which is the take home portion of the whole treatment. You want to get 1 and 2 if you want to see any real improvement in your hair. I'm a licensed cosmetologist and hair stylist. I have yet to see anyone have any drastic improvement using coconut oil on severely damaged hair.
@KayAndOasis7 жыл бұрын
Mary Tressler considering right before this you said coconut oil doesn’t penetrate the hair shaft i think you have more research to do. being a licensed cosmetologist doesn’t make you a molecular scientist. they are studies showing the chain in coconut oil is one of the very few able to slip into our hair shaft and attach itself. i’m too lazy to leave links as i’m on a phone. just google coconut molecular chain hair repair or something

I fried my hair this bad back on the summer of 2014. It was such a disaster and my hair was literally the color of a brand new penny.... I grew half of it out then cut my hair short, it's not worth trying to save hair this far gone. It's absoutely fried and her hair cuticle is ruined, which is why the purple color stays in her hair after she shampoos. I would get a really short pixie cut or do like I did and shave it all off. Poor girl. I hope she learned her lesson with bleach like I did. Much love to her. :(
@MrsLilithDarkmoon7 жыл бұрын
hi, idk if you mention this in your video,but hair is dead since it doesn't have any cell regeneration and you can't actually repair damaged hair. conditioners,oils and treatments only mask the problem,although they can help your healthy hair to grow out stronger. it would be best to cut off split ends so they don't split further and "infect" your healthy hair.

All oils, like coconut oil, don't moisturize your hair. In order to properly use hair oils you need to condition the hair first, then add the oil. The oils just keep the moisture and the conditioner trapped in the hair! So moisturizer/conditioner first, then apply the oil on top.
@toyahwatson94175 жыл бұрын
I am full of cold and really dumb right now. So.forgive me. I too have fried my hair, luckily it's only in seconds so any kind of oil like kalahari melon seed oil I'd ok? Then normal conditioner? And Coconut oil? No shampoos? I wanna try it a lot, I am having it trimmed every six wks though but wanna make sure to look after it in between cuts. Thank you for any response xXx and educating me xXx
@keymeko954 жыл бұрын
Actually I believe it depends on the oil. Some do add moisture, but others only seal it in. That's what seems to be the information passed around in the curly hair community.
@iakdrawllim41274 жыл бұрын
If you condition your hair and then put the oil on afterwards, the oil will just sit on top of the first layer of your hair, because the conditioner closes your cuticle and almost seals your outer layer of hair. If you really wanna get the most out of an oil: research to find an oil that genuinely soaks into your hair shaft (because there are only a few that do genuinely absorb into the hair, like Jojoba I believe is one of them), then shampoo, towel dry, add the chosen oil to damp, towel dried hair, cover with a plastic shower cap or something similar to keep the heat in, and leave for about 30 mins or longer either under heat or not (heat will open your cuticle and allow the oil to seep in better), then rinse it all off thoroughly and condition with your normal conditioner. And for extra moisture apply a small amount of oil into damp hair after everything is rinsed off and continue to dry
@Burgundysky4 жыл бұрын
Wrong. U need to rinse shampoo out w warm water the water opens cuticle for oils to soak in

For maintenance I deep condition with coconut oil every week and cut off split ends. Can’t wait for the next time I bleach my hair tbh :)
@electron-Volt2 жыл бұрын
I am so glad it works for you! However I remember reading that coconut oil has such large molecules that they do not actually penetrate the hair, only coat it on the outside - much like silicones. I wonder if that is true.
@Emma-ii4ir2 жыл бұрын
@@electron-Volt yep coconut oil doesn't really do anything other than fake the look of smooth hair. Well it definitely is acting like a protection coating, but that doesn't matter if your using any chemical treatment.
@Emma-ii4ir2 жыл бұрын
Okay, so I have something to add. Coconut oil is a little bit more than a just a outer protection coating. 95% of the coconut oil in particular consist of lipids that are less than 18 carbons long, which are small enough to seep under the cuticle. Oils that just sit on the top without seeping under the cuticles are jojoba, rice bran and mineral oils therefore much longer than 18 carbons. Considering this, it is smart to pre oil your hair before washes to decrease the harshness and stripping nature of sulfate shampoos. However as I already said it is truely pointless to do it before chemical treatment, it will eat right trough the oil, damaging the hair nonetheless. Then there are the polar triglycerides (about 64% for coconut) which attach to damaged hair (negatively charged) causing the hair to 'soak' up the oil over the time into or near to the cortex of the hair strands due to the attraction. It could be a hair nourishing treatment for once in a while but it doesn't have the ability to build hair bonds, so again, in scientific sense it shouldn't have the ability to repair or 'save' the hair. But if it works for you, it works for you.

Hey nami! I had bleached my hair in july 4 times in 2 weeks from virgin black hair.... Goes to say it was breaking off and so damaged. I ended trimming the dead ends and started doing keratin treatments. Ahpogees 2 step keratin treatment has saved my hair. Only around 4-5$ for the packed treatment at sallys beauty! Also the ion booster treatments (its 2 small little bottles and again its a 2 step) is a dupe for olaplex! Does the same thing but way cheaper ($2 per bottle/the after conditoner packet) but it is alot smaller in quantity but it makes your hair feel amazing. The shampoo and conditoner i swear by is the CHI keratin line, i got mine for very cheap at marshalls hehe. All these products have given my hair its strength back and doesnt feel noodly or tangly anymore. I hope this helps!!! Also maybe try dying your hair a medium ash blonde or even dark, it will make your hair feel and look a lot healthier as long as you use a demi pernament dye ( reccomend ION at sallys)

It could be a dupe for olaplex Number 3 which is a take home treatment. The number 2 they use in the salon is a bit more concentrated, but the best thing is to get an olaplex stand alone treatment at a salon where they mix the number 1 (the really potent stuff they put in bleach and dye) with water and use it as a deep conditioner. 20x better than the take home treatment
@MarlyMarly697 жыл бұрын
I second this!! I actually used color remover on my hair to lift a permanent black dye (I was at 1), and aphogee really helped. I've stopped coloring my hair now, but the stripped hair is now my ends, and I bleached them after dying my natural color, and then going back to brown again, so I use the treatment regularly. No crazy breakage! That and argan oil after every shower for a year and my hair is really healthy and long all the way through to the ends. Now I'm scared to do anything to my hair because it's finally nice again!

what everyone needs to know is that once your hair damaged nothing can un damage your hair. Only prevention works by applying oils onto your hair which coats the hair. I use Olaplex every time I bleach my hair and it's what's helped me get my hair blonde while still allowing me to grow it out. Honestly if you want to get a bargain when it comes to Olaplex treatments you should try to find salons that offer that treatment. If it's done in a salon they give you the treatment by using Steps 1 and 2 and they're supposed to charge it as much as their most expensive treatment that they offer. I have a salon in my area where the most expensive treatment they offer is $40 so they charge their Olaplex treatments only $40 and they're much more effective than the little bottle of step 3 since step 1 and 2 have a higher concentration of the ingredient that makes Olaplex so great. Also, if you do end up using Olaplex as your go-to treatment in the future, please don't leave it in overnight. It stops working around 30-45 mins.

I guess I'll need to repeat the Olaplex + Aphogee several times. I was actually thinking about asking for a Keratin treatment at a salon and see if that helps!

Warm castor oil and almond oil in hot water, add a few chunks of washed aloe Vera leaves with two to three pieces of garlic and lit it cook for 20-30 minutes using the double-boiler method. Strain the mix and apply on scalp and hair when warm to touch, this should fix everything, you can also add onion juice by cutting one red onion into very small cubes and push it against a strainer to extract the juice and mix it with oils to make the oil blend 10x better.

Olaplex 1&2 are the ones that really repair, number 3 is just like a conditioner. It helps a little, but doesnt repair much. Coconut oil isnt actually great for the hair (good for everywhere else though), black castor oil is great for softening though.
@daivuteeee5 жыл бұрын
olaplex 3 does repair, but treatment with olaplex nr 1 and 2 must be profesionaly done before, and nr 3 used at home after that for full efect. If it is used without nr 1 and 2 being inserted in to the hair before - it is doing just a little bit of treatment, but not full power.

Coconut oil only temporarily smooths the outer layer of the hair strand. The best oil to use is Argan, since the molecules are small enough to penetrate the hair shaft.

Your hair is tangling easily because the cuticle of the hair is blasted open and stuck that way so the cuticle catches on itself. The coconut oil wont repair anything, just hydrate the hair. Olaplex is meant to repair and build side bonds of the hair. The third product, I have never heard of, so I cant really say how it works. The only way to fix stressed (its not professional to called it damaged) hair is to cut it and grow it out. Hair is dead once it is out of the follicle, so you can't really do much to it repair wise once you damage it. -a cosmo student

This video was super helpful! Thank you for doing this, I just recently bleached my hair three times and my scalp is on fire and my hair is a wreck. I would recommend doing any treatments on dry hair vs wet hair because dry hair will have more capacity to really absorb all the treatment. While wet hair has already absorbed water and will not absorb the treatment completely.

argan oil ,egg white , and protine conditioner mixed together in a bowl and leave on to the hair for 30min to 1 hour since your hair is so blond.Argan oil to make hair softer, silkier and shinier. Egg whites are one of the best sources of protein. Protein makes hair follicles stronger. They also contain folate and other minerals that stimulate hair growth and prevent hair loss. I have extremely kinky curly hair ,and I do relax my hair every 3 months to avoid damage. I use this mixture in between relaxers to get my hair back it's flow,shine and healthy. Also, as your hair grows longer (if you prefer to keep it short) cutting away damaged and dead ends are what's best some times they can be restored but because of the bleach I would just cut it off and let my hair start a new. Another alternative is dying your hair a darker blond to close some of the open cuticles from going platinum. I had an experience of bleaching my hair also and I found that dying my hair black it's original color of darker makes it look and feel alot healthier. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you!!

Hello Nami! The Olaplex step 3 should be done on non-shampooed hair for best results, but I highly recommend getting the salon treatment for Olaplex and trimming the ends. When I bleached my hair, doing these two things helped a long way ☺️

I found that using/saturating olaplex no.3 in dry hair and leaving it in for about an hour THEN shampoo (NOTE: it says on the bottle that it needs to be shampooed out) works a lot better. Once a week. Remember that olaplex no. 3 is NOT a conditioner, it’s a bond repair (which is why it not only needs to be rinsed, but shampooed out). Also, I like to also do a conditioner treatment mixture. Favorite conditioner (mine: Dove deep repair), honey, and OAUI rose oil. Leave in for as long as you like (at least 5 mins, and I like to wrap it), and it works like a charm. EDIT: I barely realized this is from a year ago 🤣

Thank goodness for awesome mommys!!! The coconut oil if you put a plastic cap on or saranwrap it and put heat on it with like you did in the front (45 min upto overnight), it will up the treatment and help it penetrate your hair follicles. Heat and extended time is key. Also, Aphogee Protien treatment is very inexpensive and works wonders. It’s only about a total of $5 for the 2 small packages or about $12 total for the two regular size bottles. Believe you me, it’s AWESOME. Now, your family is sooooo beautiful!!!! And I’m with you, communication between a couple is special and unique to that duo and no one else will understand it or can unless they were one of you. It’s like twins having their on language that no one else can understand, it’s a perfect bond of love and communication. You and your husband Rock! The DYNAMIC DUO! 😆 New Suby!

(There are tutorial videos online - don’t use too much, you will DEFINITELY get purple hair.) Won’t dry your hair like the color shampoo/conditioners do.

After watching all of your bleaching, you over processed your hair so much that I doubt there is a chance at reviving it. It will most likely continue to break and you will need to slowly cut it off. Just an FYI about the treatments, I can't speak for the Harayuki because I'm not familiar with it, but Olaplex and Coconut Oil are two different ballgames. Coconut Oil is just that, Oil. So it will condition the hair but that's it. If you're going to stick with Olaplex, I would get the No. 1 and 2 treatment kit, because the #3 is a mild weekly treatment. So unlike oil, Olaplex is a bond multiplier, it's not a conditioner. You can research what a bond multiplier does I don't want this comment to be a novel, but with the condition of your hair it's important to use both. If you're going to use Olaplex, don't forget to deep condition. I would also suggest frequent trims.

When you use olaplex, you basically have to use it for the rest of your life, because the bonds it creates eventually dissolve from the water you use to wash your hair, therefore making your hair break off and tangle like crazy. I've been bleaching my hair for over 10 years and never had any problem with damage, until a couple of months after I used olaplex. I was devastated, and had to cut off years of hair growth because of that shit. Just warning you all!!! Use coconut oil instead; drench your towel dried hair in coconut oil, leave it on overnight the night before you are going to bleach it... and dont rinse it off before you bleach. It will act as a protection against damage, basically it's the same as you not washing your hair for a couple of days so the natural oils in your hair will protect it from damage. Also, dont bleach your hair immediately after applying coconut oil.... you have to let it soak in for hours, otherwise it will act as a barrier to the bleach. Really hope this helps someone!
@parisfan47365 жыл бұрын
Hailey using it for the rest of your life?? You would have to use coconut oil for the rest of your life with that logic! You only need to use olaplex while you have damages hair. If you grow it out/cut it off, you’re good. But girly come on, you gotta research the science behind coconut oil. I know everyone raves about it, but the molecules are too big to penetrate the hair shaft. So it just sits on top of the hair, which can make it feel better, but it’s not rebuilding anything. Nothing like how scientifically and molecularly formulated products work. This is why olaplex is different.
