My local Tenpin bowling alley used to have this! In 2019 it got replaced with Cruis'n Blast. Needless to say I much preferred this!

This is actually a very interesting take, because I think Dead Heat has a lot of neat things it has over Cruis'n Blast in general. - Most Dead Heat cabinets have a four-way gear shifter, thus allowing you to play in Manual Transmission, whereas Cruis'n blast lacks one entirely (even when previous entries did have it). Hell, it doesn't even have a brake pedal. MT feels really good in Dead Heat once you master it, since you can "downshift" to take tighter corners and hold onto some extra speed. - Dead Heat's courses, while not as flashy or memorable as the ones in Cruis'n Blast (in my opinion), were designed to be accurate (for the time) recreations of the four cities (New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and London). You're essentially racing on the actual streets, and I personally find that a lot more enticing compared to a loose adaptation (Cruis'n Blast) of the locales. The game's official Facebook page (which is still up as of me writing this comment, by the way! m.facebook.com/DEADHEAT/?_rdr ) explains that the developers actually went on-location to the four cities to gather reference material, and I always found that admirable. - I'd argue that the cosmetic upgrades you unlock in Dead Heat are cooler than what you obtain in Cruis'n Blast since you can get some swanky-looking car wraps (PAC-MAN, Galaga, ones with ninjas/dogs, etc.) and other neat stuff (various wheels, car fins, carbon-fiber materials, etc.). - The Ghost Driver system featured in this game is why I come back to it so much compared to Cruis'n Blast since you're always racing against the data of people who've played before you instead of a boring, generic A.I. Each race in Dead Heat is different because on the actual machines, you never know who you'll be up against, with each opponent behaving differently. I seriously wish more modern arcade racers did this.

@@artofajax7199 Not to mention, Dead Heat's soundtrack is much, much better than Cruisn' Blast. Heck, I can hardly remember any track from any of the racing games by Raw Thrills. Then again, those are my personal preferences.

I didn't manage to have this running years ago, I think last time I tried it was required a Linux Operating System and an Nvidia graphics card. Do you know if any of those requirements still applies on the Teknoparrot version?

Just press the Turbo button we have 3 turbo per race. For this game there is also the trick of quickly pressing the accelerator twice

My experience with pacifist mode is:You can beat in 1st an opponent which uses nitros at the red bridge in San Francisco,just do around 5 to 10 wheelies repeatedly to hunt the guy and get 1st okay!!!!!!

in this game there is car ranking? as from worst to greatest because I see that with the fd I always stay 6th and with a viper with a tune up to the rims I stay 4th and if so, which would be the best car

Hi I don't know if there is a ranking of the cars but I noticed that the performances are better with the Mustang and the GT-R with the other cars I have trouble finishing the race 1st

To my knowledge, the eight cars in Dead Heat share the same speed and handling characteristics, outside of differing hitboxes/collision data. However, this is interesting to note.

​@@rronavI think the secret is: You should _memorize and watch how you and/or the other players are driving_ before the next round,once when it *asks to save picture to other races* the way you exactly record your previous drive causes to raise or lower the race difficulty on the next play So nothing but looking at that opponents slide and thinking about how they drive,even if these you have already seen dozen or hundred times and the person will be with you lots of attempts being one of the opponents And the most important is that *you should be BLOCKING THE CARS* looking at the plates on the lower section of the screen(the other pictures growing their transparency and size),the more you get vigilant and defend yourself,higher chances to beat in 1st as well use *wall banking,infiltration or acceleration control(Sega Master System's Hang On famous strategy for sharp turns,step on/off gas all the time)* watching the speedometer standing at a number which you can "reload"(recover) faster to top speed(270-300 kmh)
